While sending Majordomo commands (rather than normal messages to your list), the email\u00a0must<\/strong><\/em> be composed in plain text rather than rich text or HTML. If you’re receiving an error in response to your commands, try the steps below to force a command message to be sent as plain text. In addition, be sure to remove any signatures.<\/p>\n

Microsoft Outlook 2010 & 2007<\/h3>

  1. Create a new message as normal.<\/li>\n
  2. Switch to the\u00a0Format Text<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n
  3. Select the\u00a0Plain Text<\/strong> option in the text\u00a0formatting group (contains HTML, Rich Text, and Plain Text).<\/li>\n
  4. Compose and send your message (do not include a subject or any signature lines).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac<\/h3>

    1. Create a new message as normal.<\/li>\n
    2. Switch to the\u00a0Options<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n
    3. Click on the Format <\/strong>switch to toggle to Plain<\/strong> from HTML<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    4. Click Yes<\/strong> through the warning message.<\/li>\n
    5. Compose and send your message (do not include a subject or any signature lines).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      2. Open the Format <\/strong>menu.<\/li>\n
      3. Select Make Plain Text<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      4. Compose and send your message (do not include a subject or any signature lines).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Thunderbird<\/h3>

        1. Hold the Shift<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n
        2. Click Write<\/strong>, Reply<\/strong>, or Reply to All<\/strong> (depending on the context of your message).<\/li>\n
        3. Release the Shift <\/strong>button.<\/li>\n
        4. Compose and send your message (do not include a subject or any signature lines).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          This will switch the type of message you’re writing from the default (usually HTML) to the alternate option (usually plain text).<\/p>\n

          1. Select the COMPOSE<\/strong> icon in your Gmail’s left navigation bar.<\/li>\n
          2. Select the\u00a0More options<\/strong> menu (three stacked dots icon) in the bottom right corner of the email composition pop-up.<\/li>\n
          3. Select Plain text mode<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
          4. Place your cursor anywhere in the email body to close the More options<\/strong> menu.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
