Your Contacts list will be stored centrally, making it available to you via Outlook, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/xmail.bu.edu\">Outlook Web Access (OWA)<\/a>, and your Exchange-compliant devices such as the iPhone, Blackberry or Android. Follow the instructions on this page for assistance.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Import from:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4><span class=\"bodytypeTimes\"><span class=\"headingVerdana\">Eudora or Outlook Express (Windows)<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span class=\"bodytypeTimes\">Outlook can import Contacts from Eudora or Outlook Express using a built-in process. Go to <strong>File-&gt;Open-&gt;Import<\/strong>, select the option to <strong>Import Internet Mail and Addresses, <\/strong>and then the import wizard will guide you through the required steps.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"bodytypeTimes\">Eudora, <\/span>Entourage, Mail, .csv, .olm, .pst<span class=\"bodytypeTimes\"> (Mac)<br \/>\n<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Microsoft provides detailed instructions on importing to Outlook 2011 from each of these clients or data formats. See <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/2413370\">http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/2413370<\/a> (or the .csv import steps outlined below on this page) for more information.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytypeTimes\"><span class=\"headingVerdana\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<h4>Thunderbird (Windows or Mac)<\/h4>\n<p>Launch Thunderbird, open the Address Book, and select the list you want to export. (If you have more than one list, you will need to repeat these steps for each). Choose <strong>Tools-&gt;Export<\/strong>. Give the file a name and indicate that you want to <strong>Save as type: Comma Separated<\/strong>. Click on <strong>Desktop <\/strong>(to save it to the Desktop location) and then <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The .csv file that you have just created can now be imported into Outlook using the instructions provided below.<\/p>\n<h4>Outlook (e.g. from an IMAP account on another computer)<\/h4>\n<p>You can export your local Contacts from <a href=\"http:\/\/office.microsoft.com\/en-us\/outlook-help\/export-contacts-HA101870639.aspx\">Outlook 2010<\/a> and from <a href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/2648667\">Outlook 2011 (steps 1-3)<\/a> for import into Outlook for Exchange.<strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>Horde<\/h4>\n<p>After you have transitioned to Exchange, no new mail will be going in to your Horde\/ACS account. However, you will still have access Horde (until September 2013) in order to retrieve things like address information or the parameters for your filters\/rules.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to Horde at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/webmail\">www.bu.edu\/webmail<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Go to your <strong>Contacts<\/strong> list and choose <strong>Select All<\/strong> by clicking in the top box to the left. (You can also make individual selections if you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t want to export every address.)<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Export <\/strong>and<strong> <\/strong>choose<strong> Comma Separated Values. <\/strong>Then click on the <strong>Export button<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Look for the resulting file, <\/strong>which will be called <strong>contacts.csv.<\/strong> If it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not on your Desktop, check your Browser&#8217;s Downloads folder.<\/li>\n<li>Once you have located <strong>contacts.csv<\/strong>, <strong>launch Outlook <\/strong>and <strong>follow the steps outlined below.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong><strong>Import (.csv) to:<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4>Outlook 2011<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to<strong> <\/strong><strong>File<\/strong> -&gt;<strong>Import<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Contacts<\/strong><strong> or messages from a text file<\/strong>, and then click the right arrow to continue.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Import Contacts from a tab (CSV) <\/strong>and then click the right arrow to continue.<\/li>\n<li>Locate and select the .csv file (that you saved as an export, probably to the Desktop) and then click\u00c2\u00a0<strong>Import<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00c2\u00a0<strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Outlook 2010<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to <strong>File <\/strong>-&gt; <strong>Open <\/strong>-&gt; <strong>Import <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Import from Another Program or File<\/strong> and click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Comma Separated Values (Windows) <\/strong>and click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Browse<\/strong> to locate and select the .csv file (that you saved as an export, probably to the Desktop). Click on the CSV file to select it and click <strong>OK<\/strong>. Choose the import option that you prefer and then click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select a destination folder for the addresses you are importing. Most likely, this will be your <strong>Contacts <\/strong>folder. Click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Map Custom Fields <\/strong>button and <strong>match up the corresponding From and To fields <\/strong>so that the contact information you are importing gets correctly placed into the corresponding field in Contacts. When you are finished, click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Finish<\/strong> and your contacts will import into Outlook.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Optional: Give priority to your Contacts (over the BU Global Address List)<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>When you are using the <strong>Address Book <\/strong>in Outlook 2010, by default it will display BU&#8217;s Global Address List as a priority over your Contacts list.\u00c2\u00a0 Most people will prefer that option. However, if you wish to make your Contacts list the first choice instead, here&#8217;s how to change that order of priority:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>From <strong>Home<\/strong>, click on the <strong>Address Book<\/strong> icon (probably located toward the top right of the ribbon).<\/li>\n<li>From the Address Book menu, go to\u00c2\u00a0<strong>Tools <\/strong>and then <strong>Options<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Custom <\/strong>and the <strong>change the order<\/strong> of the list.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK <\/strong>at the bottom.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You can move your Address\/Contacts list to use it with Exchange from a variety of alternate email programs.
