Removing a Password from a Browser’s Saved Password List<\/h3>\n

Saving your Kerberos password in your Web browser’s saved password list can expose the data it protects to anyone else who uses your computer, and possibly to others on the Internet.<\/p>\n

Web Login detects the use of saved passwords and prevents them from being used to log in to Boston University websites. To gain access to Web Login-protected sites, you must first remove the password from your browser’s saved password list, using the instructions below.<\/p>\n

Mozilla Firefox<\/h3>

Windows<\/h4>\n

  1. Click the menu button and choose Preferences<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  2. Switch to the\u00a0Security<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n
  3. Click on Saved Logins…<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    To eliminate all existing saved passwords, click\u00a0 Remove all<\/strong>.\u00a0 To eliminate specific saved passwords, locate the site within the Site column and click on it once to highlight it in blue. Then click the Remove<\/strong> button below. You can also remove all saved passwords by clicking the Remove All<\/strong> button. If you wish, deselect the option to Remember logins for sites<\/strong>. This will prevent passwords from being saved in the future. In older versions of Firefox, this option is in the Privacy tab instead of Security.<\/p>\n

    Mac OS X<\/h4>\n
      \n
    1. In the menu bar, open the\u00a0Firefox menu.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    2. Select\u00a0Preferences.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    3. Switch to the\u00a0Security<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n
    4. Click on\u00a0Saved Passwords<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      To eliminate all existing saved passwords, click\u00a0\u00a0Remove all<\/strong>.\u00a0 To eliminate specific saved passwords, click\u00a0View Saved Passwords<\/strong> and delete just those associated with\u00a0weblogin.bu.edu<\/strong>.\u00a0 If you wish, deselect the option to\u00a0Remember passwords<\/strong>.       To delete individual passwords:<\/p>\n

      1. Select the three-dot menu icon<\/strong> in the top-right corner<\/span><\/li>\n
      2. Select the Settings<\/strong> option from the dropdown menu.<\/span><\/li>\n
      3. Select Profiles tab<\/strong> from the Settings menu in the left column.<\/li>\n
      4. In the Profiles<\/strong> tab, click the Passwords <\/strong>option to view the saved passwords for your <\/span>user profile.<\/li>\n
      5. Under the Profiles\/Passwords<\/strong> tab menu, you will find a list of your saved passwords under the Saved Passwords <\/strong>category.<\/span><\/li>\n
      6. Select and remove the passwords you would like deleted.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        To delete all saved passwords:<\/p>\n

        1. Open the Tools <\/strong>menu.<\/li>\n
        2. Select Internet Options.<\/strong><\/li>\n
        3. Click Content<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        4. Under AutoComplete<\/strong>, click Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        5. Click Delete AutoComplete history…<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          To prevent AutoComplete in the future, make sure AutoComplete is deselected for User names and passwords on forms<\/strong>, and\u00a0then click on OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

          1. Open the\u00a0Chrome<\/strong> menu using the button on the far right\u00a0of the browser toolbar.
