The Boston University campus network provides high-speed access to the Internet, research networks (including Internet2<\/strong>), email services, and the web. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Wired access<\/h2>\n

Tens of thousands of ports connect through optical fiber and high-speed routers and switches. Our current standard deployment for desktop access utilizes an auto-sensing connection, supporting speeds of up to 1 Gb\/s per port. Direct access<\/a> <\/strong>to the network is available throughout campus, including faculty and staff offices, PC\/computer labs, study areas, colleges and departments, residence halls, and many classrooms. Secure remote access to the campus network is also available through our VPN<\/strong><\/a> service.<\/p>\n

Wireless access (Wi-Fi)<\/h2>\n

Wireless access:<\/strong> See Wireless Network<\/strong><\/a> for current Wi-Fi capabilities and coverage across the Charles River and Medical Campuses (including libraries, residence-hall study lounges, dining facilities, athletic venues, classrooms, and research labs)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Research networking<\/h2>\n

Boston University participates in the Internet2<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>project, a collaboration of research universities advancing next-generation networking for research and education.
