Messages sent from non\u2011authorized or misconfigured systems may be rejected or dropped by recipient mail providers.<\/p>\n<p>Proper DMARC alignment requires adding the sending source to SPF records in DNS as well as configuring DKIM signing. For more information check out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/services\/cccs\/email\/broadcast\/sending-from-a-third-party\/\">Sending from a Third Party<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Why This Matters<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>DMARC enforcement helps protect the BU community by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Preventing spoofing and phishing attempts using @bu.edu addresses<\/li>\n<li>Improving the overall trust and deliverability of legitimate BU email<\/li>\n<li>Aligning BU email practices with current requirements from major email providers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Because of this enforcement, forwarded or relayed email that is not properly authenticated may fail delivery, even if it previously worked.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What You Should Do<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Send BU email only from BU\u2011approved, DMARC\u2011signed systems\n<ul>\n<li>Office 365 Outlook (web, desktop, or mobile)<\/li>\n<li>Other BU\u2011managed or BU\u2011approved email platforms<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Avoid sending BU email from personal mail systems, scripts, or third\u2011party services unless they are explicitly configured to send on behalf of BU<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you manage an application or service that sends email using a @bu.edu address, it must be properly configured to meet BU\u2019s email authentication requirements.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DMARC Enforcement and BU Email Boston University now enforces DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance) for email sent from @bu.edu addresses.
