CrowdStrike has confirmed this is not a security incident or cyber-attack and only affects Windows computers, Mac and Linux are unaffected.<\/p>\n<p>If computers are still crashing and unable to stay online to receive the Channel File Changes, the following steps can be used to resolve this issue:<\/p>\n<p>From the Windows recovery screen:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click Advanced Recovery Options<\/li>\n<li>Click Troubleshoot<\/li>\n<li>Click Advanced Options<\/li>\n<li>Click Command Prompt<\/li>\n<li>If you are asked for your BitLocker recovery key, you will need to get this from your local IT desktop support representative or group, or call the Service Desk at <a href=\"tel:16173534357\">617-353-HELP<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Enter:\n<pre>del C:\\Windows\\System32\\drivers\\CrowdStrike\\C-00000291*.sys<\/pre>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Note:<\/strong> If you have more than one drive, you may need to figure out what drive has Windows on it and use that drive letter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Enter: <code>exit<\/code> (or close the window)<\/li>\n<li>Click Continue<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you have a system that is affected by the outage and need help, please contact the IT Help Center at <a href=\"mailto:ithelp@bu.edu\">ithelp@bu.edu<\/a>\u00a0or 617-353-HELP (4357).\u00a0 BU owned systems are encrypted to protect University data and will need a BitLocker key to make the needed change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CrowdStrike, the software Boston University uses for endpoint protection\/antivirus had an issue where Windows computers will \u2018blue screen\u2019 and not load.
