Dear New BU Alum,<\/p>\n

This follow up to our communication of May 31st<\/a> is a friendly reminder that Boston University has recently implemented quotas on all BU Google Storage accounts. As an Alum, you will retain access to BU Gmail, Contacts and Calendar, but access to all other Google apps, including Drive, YouTube, Maps and Photos, will be discontinued effective July 31, 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?<\/strong>
\nTo avoid inconvenience, please move all your data, except Gmail, Contacts and Calendar, to another storage option<\/a> prior to Wednesday, July 31, 2024<\/strong>. If you own a Google Shared Drive, remove its files as well.<\/p>\n

If the content on your BU Google account is no longer needed, you can disregard this message, and allow the information to be removed.<\/p>\n

HOW DO I DOWNLOAD MY GOOGLE DATA? <\/strong>
\nTo export a copy of your Google Account data, either to back it up or use it with a service outside of Google, we suggest using Google Takeout<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dear BU Alumni,<\/p>\n

With the implementation of BU Google storage quotas, we noticed your account still contains Photos data. It is important that you remove your photos from your account by Monday, July 15, 2024 to comply with these quotas and avoid any inconvenience.<\/p>\n

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?<\/strong>
\nTo remove your photos, we suggest using Google Takeout<\/a> to transfer them to another platform, and then delete<\/a> them from your account. Be sure to empty your recycle bin<\/a> to completely remove all your data. Alternatively, you can enable partner sharing in Google Photos to share<\/a> all or some of your photos with another non-BU Google account. Remember to delete your photos from your BU Google account once the photos are shared.<\/p>\n

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DONT MOVE MY PHOTOS?<\/strong>
\nGoogle does not allow BU Google administrators to delete Photos data from an individual accounts. If you do not remove your photos by July 15th<\/sup>, we will have to temporarily delete and then reinstate your BU Google account to allow Google to remove the data. This process can take up to one week, and will result in all data and e-mails on the account being deleted, not just your Photos.<\/p>\n
