IS&T Systems Administration uses a combination of Big Fix and our own repositories to deploy essential updates for supported Linux operating systems.<\/p>\n

Automatic Patching Process<\/h3>\n

When IS&T hosts a server, a monthly automatic process is implemented. The process will install the patch updates, and then restart the server. Clients are encouraged to choose from an existing IS&T change window:IS&T Change Windows<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We usually schedule non-production patching for earlier in the month with production server patching later in the month so that the patches are verified before going into production.<\/p>\n

Also, the repository is fixed at a certain level at the start of the month so that the same patch set is applied across the entire month.<\/p>\n
