error.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">How can I tell which Google Services Account I am using?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to Gmail (<a href=\"https:\/\/mail.google.com\">https:\/\/mail.google.com<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Hover over the avatar icon &#8211; often just the first initial of your name in a colored circle &#8211; in the upper-right corner of the screen. This will inform you of which account you are logged in to.<br style=\"clear: both;\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2024\/04\/II_2_AccountID-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"381\" height=\"85\" class=\"size-full wp-image-151690 alignnone\" \/><\/li>\n<li>If there is a Boston University logo next to your avatar, you are currently logged into into Google services with your BU Google account. If you do not see the BU logo or see the logo of another organization, you are NOT logged in with your BU account.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>You can also click on the avatar for a drop-down that displays the account email address you are currently logged in to.<br style=\"clear: both;\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2024\/04\/II_3_BU-LogIn-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"230\" height=\"284\" class=\"size-full wp-image-151701 alignleft\" \/><br style=\"clear: both;\" \/><br style=\"clear: both;\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>To sign-out or switch accounts, click on your <strong>avatar icon<\/strong> &#8211; often just the first initial of your name in a colored circle.\n<ul>\n<li>If you are signed into multiple Google accounts:\n<ul>\n<li>You will see them listed. Select the account you wish to switch to.<\/li>\n<li>Your only options will be to either switching accounts or signing out of <strong>ALL<\/strong> accounts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>When signing into Google, the <strong>FIRST<\/strong> account you sign in with becomes your default account &#8211; the account Google will use when accessing Google Apps or services.\u00a0 Once it has been established, Google will make note of your default account<\/li>\n<li>To change the default account:\n<ul>\n<li>Sign Out of All accounts.<\/li>\n<li>Sign in again with the desired account to set it as default.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>We recommend using a non-BU Google account as your default account.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">How will this look? Will it be different from the Google Workspace I have been using?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>You will see a more limited version of the Google Workspace than you are used to. Apps disabled by BU Google Admins will no longer appear. Some apps such as Cloud Search, Saved and Password will still appear in the app carousel, but will be unavailable for use. Clicking on these items will return an error.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">How do I access disabled apps?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>You have a few choices for how to access these disabled applications:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Use these apps in a different browser that is not signed into your BU Google account.\n<ul>\n<li>If you have a personal Gmail account, you will still be able to sign in to those services with it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Open links to YouTube, maps or other disabled services in an <strong>Incognito window<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>In most browsers you can <strong>right-click<\/strong> a link you wish to visit and choose to open it in\u00a0 <strong>Incognito\u00a0<\/strong> &#8211; a window that is not signed into any Google accounts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Utilize the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/chrome\/answer\/2364824?hl=en&amp;co=GENIE.Platform=Desktop\">Profiles feature<\/a> in the Google Chrome browser to keep your BU account separate from your personal Gmail accounts.<\/li>\n<li>Use a mail reader to read BU emails. Do not sign into Google on your browser with your BU Google account.\n<ul>\n<li>Most modern operating systems come with a mail reader.\n<ul>\n<li>Mac OS has Apple Mail<\/li>\n<li>Windows 10 and above has \u201cMail\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Many third-party applications will integrate with Google Mail such as Outlook, Thunderbird and others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">How do I reset my BU alumni account password??<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p><span>To reset your password, please follow the steps below.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Direct your browser to<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/mybuaccount\">https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/mybuaccount<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Select \u201cReset Forgotten Password\u201d and click the [Next] button.<\/li>\n<li>Enter your BU Login or Web Account Name. A BU login is a BU email address without the @bu.edu.<\/li>\n<li>Enter your Date of Birth. (Format is MM\/DD\/YYYY) and click the [Next] button.<\/li>\n<li>Authenticate with DUO on the next page, you can choose where and how to receive the verification, and click the [Submit] button.<\/li>\n<li>Choose a new password and enter it in both fields. *Make sure to note all the conditions to be met for the required new password.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>* If successful, you should get the message \u201cYour request has been submitted successfully. You will receive an email notification when the request is completed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>* The email comes from<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"mailto:ithelp@bu.edu\">ithelp@bu.edu<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>and should go to your Boston University email as well as your personal email on file.
