Below is a table that summarizes common data transfer tasks completed by researchers on the SCC and links to more detailed information on how to use a specific method.<\/p>\n<div style=\"overflow: auto;\">\n<table class=\"research\" border=\"1\" style=\"width: 600px;\">\n<thead>\n<tr align=\"left\" valign=\"top\">\n<th style=\"padding-left: 0.25em;\">Transferring Files Between<\/th>\n<th>Description<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr align=\"left\" valign=\"top\">\n<td style=\"padding: 0.25em;\" valign=\"middle\">SCC <b>&lt;&#8212;-&gt;<\/b> Your Desktop<\/td>\n<td>To transfer files from your local machine to the SCC, there are three options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/support\/research\/system-usage\/transferring-files\/scc-ondemand\/\">OnDemand File Manager<\/a> &#8211; (File size limit of 10 GB.)<\/li>\n<li>Applications that support <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/support\/research\/system-usage\/transferring-files\/desktop\/\">Secure Copy (scp) or Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP)<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/support\/research\/computing-resources\/globus\/\">Globus Online<\/a> &#8211; Use to transfer large files, many files, or transfer data between institutions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"padding: 0.25em;\" valign=\"middle\">SCC <b>&lt;&#8212;-&gt;<\/b> Cloud Service Provider<\/td>\n<td>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/support\/research\/system-usage\/transferring-files\/cloud-applications\/#RCLONE\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rclone<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a command line program to manage files on cloud storage. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Add your cloud provider to your SCC account using the rclone module. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once added, you can move data between the SCC and your cloud using the OnDemand Files App.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/support\/research\/system-usage\/transferring-files\/cloud-applications\/\">SCC Transfer Node<\/a> to transfer data between the SCC and a web source or a cloud provider, such as AWS S3 Buckets or Google Drive. Some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/support\/research\/system-usage\/transferring-files\/cloud-applications\/#CLOUD_APPS\">cloud based utilities<\/a> are also available as modules to assist in the transfer of data between the SCC and cloud platforms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"padding: 0.25em;\" valign=\"middle\">SCC <b>&lt;&#8212;-&gt;<\/b> Another Institution<\/td>\n<td>Globus is a platform for managing file transfers between the SCC and other institutions. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/support\/research\/computing-resources\/globus\/\">Click here<\/a> to learn about Globus, and conditions needed to transfer files successfully.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"padding: 0.25em;\" valign=\"middle\">SCC <b>&lt;&#8212;-&gt;<\/b> BU File Servers<\/td>\n<td>There are options to have the SCC transfer files with BU File Servers. These file servers must be connected to the BU network and configured properly for a successful connection.
