Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a convenient way to access <\/span>network-restricted resources on the campus network that would otherwise be unavailable from off campus. In some countries, access to the University\u2019s VPN service may be limited or restricted.\u00a0<\/em>To connect to the BU VPN you’ll need to install the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.\u00a0 For Medical Campus<\/strong> resource access, please see the BUMC VPN instructions<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Duo Two-Factor Authentication<\/a> is required of all clients when logging into the VPN.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Note<\/span><\/strong>:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0We no longer support built-in VPN programs on Mac or Windows, as they are incompatible with the Two-Factor VPN.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Below are the installation files and instructions that will walk you through downloading, installing, and launching the appropriate VPN client. Please choose the correct operating system:<\/div>\n

Mac OS 12 (or higher)<\/h3>
<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Visit https:\/\/vpn.bu.edu<\/a> > Log in with BU credentials > Authenticate with Duo (enroll in Duo 2FA if prompted).<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Wait for the download link to appear > Click “Download for macOS.”\"\"<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. \u00a0Click the downloaded .dmg file from the list of downloads.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Go to Desktop > Run “AnyConnect VPN x.x.xxxx” setup (Admin access required) \"Running<\/span>
    \n<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Open Cisco AnyConnect from \/Applications\/Cisco > Enter **vpn.bu.edu** in “connect to” > Input BU credentials. \"connect<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  6. To end your session, click “Disconnect” in the top right. (Note: You can close the window without exiting the app.)\"Icon<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
