From the MyMedia area you may edit your videos&#8217; options, create clips from your videos, delete videos, and more. For more information, see <a href=\"https:\/\/learning.mediaspace.kaltura.com\/media\/How+to+Use+My+Media\/0_eb7drx6q\"><em>Kaltura MyMedia<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2021\/05\/MyMedia-Logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"405\" height=\"165\" class=\"wp-image-135153 alignright\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>MyMedia<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>is the Boston University<span>\u00a0<\/span><span>cloud based video streaming service that allows management of audio visual assets and delivery via streaming media. Students can upload content to MyMedia via their Blackboard courses which have integrated with this service. Clicking this will show a dropdown of three options:\u00a0<strong>Media Upload<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kaltura Capture<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Video Quiz<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Media Upload<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>On the upload page, you can either drag and drop a video file from somewhere else on your computer, or you can click the <strong>Choose a file to upload<\/strong> button<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2023\/03\/Successful-Upload-MyMedia.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"691\" height=\"336\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-144018\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2023\/03\/Successful-Upload-MyMedia.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2023\/03\/Successful-Upload-MyMedia-636x309.jpg 636w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2023\/03\/Successful-Upload-MyMedia-1024x498.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2023\/03\/Successful-Upload-MyMedia-768x373.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2023\/03\/Successful-Upload-MyMedia-1536x746.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 691px) 100vw, 691px\" \/><\/li>\n<li>After selecting the video that you want to bring into MyMedia, the upload process will begin automatically. This can take a couple of minutes depending on how long your video is and the size of the file. Once completed, there will be a green confirmation banner at the top of the page and a set of fields that you can fill in with the video details:\n<ol>\n<li>Name: automatically generated based on the name of the file you uploaded, you can change this<\/li>\n<li>Description: you can provide a description of what the video is if this would be helpful to your viewers<\/li>\n<li>Tags: you can add tag words that may help you locate this video later (helpful if you have many videos you&#8217;re uploading)<\/li>\n<li>Publishing status: Private (m<label class=\"radio\" for=\"private_upload1\">edia page will be visible to you only) or Published (m<\/label><label class=\"radio\" for=\"published_upload1\" data-original-title=\"To publish, please click 'Save' first.\" title=\"\" aria-label=\"To publish, please click 'Save' first.\">edia page will be visible to users according to entitlements based on the selected destinations in the options below)<\/label><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Save<\/strong> to save the media upload.<\/li>\n<li>From there you can either view your media, go back to the MyMedia repository, or upload another media item with the section at the bottom of the page.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Editing a Video in the MyMedia Video Editor<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>The MyMedia Video Editor is where edits can now be made directly in the MyMedia interface to the videos that you upload. This is a powerful tool to provide all the instructional creator power you need for your videos.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2026\/01\/Player-edits-636x365.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"636\" height=\"365\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-160753 size-medium\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2026\/01\/Player-edits-636x365.png 636w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2026\/01\/Player-edits-1024x588.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2026\/01\/Player-edits-768x441.png 768w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2026\/01\/Player-edits-1536x882.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2026\/01\/Player-edits-2048x1177.png 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 636px) 100vw, 636px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The MyMedia Video Editor allows you to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Create and edit quizzes in your media<\/li>\n<li>Clip, trim, chop, and splice media (removing segments)<\/li>\n<li>Add hotspots to your media<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Note: The Video Editor is recommended for short videos and not recommended for precise edits\/cuts. For videos longer than 3 minutes, a different video editor should be used to make precise edits before uploading to MyMedia.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Accessing the MyMedia Video Editor<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Log into <a href=\"https:\/\/mymedia.bu.edu\/\">MyMedia<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.bu.edu\/\">Blackboard<\/a> using your Kerberos credentials.\n<ul>\n<li>From the MyMedia website: select <strong>your name<\/strong> at the top right and click <strong>My Media<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>From Blackboard, click\u00a0<strong>Tools\u00a0<\/strong>in the left-side navigation bar and select\u00a0the\u00a0<strong>MyMedia<\/strong> card from the list.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span>Once in your media repository click the name of the desired media to open that media.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>If you have not uploaded any media yet, click the <strong>Add New<\/strong> button and add your media.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>On the media page, click the\u00a0<strong>Actions<\/strong> dropdown on the right side of the page under the media and select\u00a0<strong>Launch Editor<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Inside the Editor<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Right pane \u2013 Consists of:\n<ul>\n<li>Media Player &#8211; Use to Preview your timeline modifications.<\/li>\n<li>Real-Time Input<\/li>\n<li>Play\/Pause\/Skip to start\/Skip to end Buttons<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Bottom pane \u2013 Includes the Timeline. The Timeline can be zoomed in\/out to allow improved granulation of the time line, and fine-tuning, and give a broader perspective when zoomed out.<br \/>\nThe Timeline includes the following icons and tools:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Redo icon &#8211; retracts to the the last action you performed on the Timeline<\/li>\n<li>Undo icon &#8211; undoes the last action you performed on the Timeline<\/li>\n<li>Reset icon &#8211; resets the Timeline to its last saved state<\/li>\n<li>Real Time Marker, with Quick Action and Time Code\n<ul>\n<li>Set In\/Out \u00a0&#8211; use to set cue points on your time line.<\/li>\n<li>Split &#8211; use to cut your segment at the selected point<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Fade In\/Out icon &#8211; use to set fade in\/out cue points on your selected segment<\/li>\n<li>Delete icon &#8211; use to cut the selected segment<\/li>\n<li>Zoom marker &#8211; use to enlarge the timeline display granularity<\/li>\n<li>Handlebars &#8211; Use to snap to a certain point on the video segment<\/li>\n<li>Show\/Hide Audio &#8211; show or hide the audio tracks on the timeline<\/li>\n<li>Total amount of the video duration &#8211; indicates the total amount of time of the video<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Using the Editor<\/h4>\n<p class=\"Procedure\">To zoom in\/out and reset the Timeline<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Drag the Zoom marker to the level of granularity you want to see. \u00a0This naturally will increase the length of the visible Timeline, since more frames will be view able.<\/li>\n<li>Click the Reset Icon \u2013 to reset the Timeline to its last saved state.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>To show\/hide audio tracks on the Editor timeline<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click the Show \/Hide Audio icon on the timeline. The audio display is removed from the timeline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Procedure\"><span>To advance\/go back in small increments on the Editor timeline, u<\/span>se the following keys:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 Second Forward &#8211; Right arrow<\/li>\n<li>1 Second Backward &#8211; Left arrow<\/li>\n<li>10 Seconds Forward &#8211; Alt + Right arrow<\/li>\n<li>10 Seconds Backward &#8211; Alt + Left arrow<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To trim media or to create a clip, you must first define the range you want to keep or make a clip from, by doing one of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drag the handlebars of the start or end points with your mouse to set the range.<\/li>\n<li>Enter a start time or end time in the Real-Time Input field, and press Enter. The Real-Time marker will position itself on the timeline at the manually set time. You can then drag either handlebar on the Timeline edge to snap it to the real time marker.<\/li>\n<li>Click anywhere on the Timeline, the Real Time Marker will position itself there. Drag either Timeline edge to snap it to the real time marker.<\/li>\n<li>Play the media, and pause on desired time. the Real-Time Marker will position itself at that time. Drag either Timeline handlebar to snap it to the real time marker.<br \/>\nWhen arrows are displayed on the Real-Time Marker, you can move the Real Time Marker on the timeline to a different position, either backwards or forwards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Adding Collaborators to Video in Blackboard<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p><span>After uploading a video to your MyMedia repository or creating a video quiz, you may then add collaborators to your media, including co-editors, co-publishers, co-viewers and Webcasting moderators.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Login to<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/learn.bu.edu\/\">Blackboard<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/learn.bu.edu\/\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>with your BU username and password.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Tools\u00a0<\/strong>in the left-side navigation bar.<\/li>\n<li>Select the\u00a0<strong>MyMedia\u00a0<\/strong>card from the list.<\/li>\n<li><span>Click the pencil icon next to the desired media to open the editing menu.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/dyzz9obi78pm5.cloudfront.net\/app\/image\/id\/5ed982f7ec161c1541fe11bf\/n\/new-my-media-with-table-view-pencil-circled.jpg\" width=\"603\" height=\"305\" class=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li>From within the <strong>Edit Media<\/strong> page, select the\u00a0<strong>Collaboration<\/strong> tab.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/dyzz9obi78pm5.cloudfront.net\/app\/image\/id\/5d5b4a3aed121c870b6c1124\/n\/collaborator-1.PNG\" width=\"594\" height=\"268\" class=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li><span>Click <strong>Add Collaborator<\/strong> and t<\/span><span>he <strong>Add Collaborator window<\/strong> is displayed.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/dyzz9obi78pm5.cloudfront.net\/app\/image\/id\/5d5b4a3ced121c870b6c1127\/n\/add-collaborator-3.PNG\" width=\"483\" height=\"276\" class=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Enter the collaborator\u2019s user name or ID or the group&#8217;s name or ID if Blackboard groups are enabled. You can also use the auto-complete function (from 3rd letter and on).<\/li>\n<li>Check the type(s) of permissions for the collaborator you are adding to the media post.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Co-Editors<\/strong> &#8211; can edit the post&#8217;s details and metadata, trim media, replace media, edit captions, edit chapters and edit slides. Co-editors cannot delete media or add new co-editors and co-publishers. Co-editors can see the analytics page for the media they co-edit.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Co-Publishers<\/strong> \u00a0&#8211; can publish media to their entitled Categories or<span>\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"ko-glossary-term\" data-toggle=\"popover\" data-content=\"MediaSpace Channels, are media repositories managed by authorized users and can be identified by their flat layout that is reflected on the channels page. Channel types can vary from open to private, restricted, shared repository or public to define the privacy levels by which users (anonymous\/authenticated\/channel members) may have access to view the content or to contribute content to the channel. Note: MediaSpace Channels can be associated with one or more MediaSpace Categories according to the entitlements set in the category. \" data-original-title=\"\" title=\"\">Channels<\/span>. This option must be enabled by your<span>\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"ko-glossary-term\" data-toggle=\"popover\" data-content=\"Kaltura MediaSpace is a video portal for every campus or a corporate. Kaltura\u2019s MediaSpace application, allows publishers to instantly launch a video-centric website, where users can search, browse, watch, create, share and edit videos, and video presentations, with full user management, and moderation options.\" data-original-title=\"\" title=\"\">KMS<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span>administrator for this tab to display. Group support may be enabled for the Media Collaboration features.
