After installing the Zoom add-ins, you&#8217;ll be able to schedule Zoom meetings without having to leave your calendar application.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Installing the Zoom for Outlook Add-in<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>The Zoom for Outlook Add-in is automatically distributed to everyone with Office 365. If you aren&#8217;t seeing the add-in when making a meeting, or would like to remove it, use the steps below to manage your installation:<\/p>\n<h4>Outlook for Windows (New and Classic) or Outlook for Web:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Click the Apps waffle icon in the left sidebar <img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2026\/02\/outlook-web-apps-waffle.png\" alt=\"Screenshot of the Apps waffle icon that appears in the left sidebar of Outlook for Web\" width=\"22\" height=\"22\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-160991\" style=\"margin: 0; position: relative; top: 5px;\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Click &#8220;Manage your apps&#8221; at the bottom of the app categories list<\/li>\n<li>Locate &#8220;Zoom&#8221; and click it to learn more. To remove it, click the &#8220;\u2026&#8221; button on the right side of the row and select &#8220;Remove.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Outlook for Mac:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>With Outlook for Mac open, go to &#8220;Tools &gt; Get Add-ins&#8221; in the menu bar at the top of your screen<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8220;Admin-managed&#8221; on the left<\/li>\n<li>Locate and click the &#8220;Zoom for Outlook Add-in&#8221; to learn more, add, or remove it from your account.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Once installed, the Zoom for Outlook Add-in will be available automatically anywhere you sign into the Outlook app or website.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Scheduling a Zoom Meeting from Outlook<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>The Zoom for Outlook Add-in is accessible when composing a meeting invitation in Outlook:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>From Outlook, create a new meeting or event. Add your invitees, set the date, time, and recurrence of your meeting, and add a location if necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Add a Zoom meeting by locating the appropriate button based on the version of Outlook you use:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Outlook for Windows (Classic):<\/strong> Click the Add a Zoom Meeting button in the toolbar. If you don&#8217;t see it, you may need to click the &#8220;\u2026&#8221; button to reveal all options.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Outlook for Windows (New) or Outlook for Web:<\/strong> Click the &#8220;Apps&#8221; button in the toolbar <img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2026\/02\/outlook-win-new-events_app_button.png\" alt=\"Screenshot of New Outlook for Windows apps button\" width=\"34\" height=\"23\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-160978\" style=\"margin: 0; top: 5px; position: relative;\" \/>, then select Zoom &gt; Add a Zoom Meeting.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Outlook for Mac:<\/strong> Click Zoom on the toolbar, then Add a Zoom Meeting. You may need to click the &#8220;\u2026&#8221; button to reveal the Zoom option.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>If you are asked to sign in, click the &#8220;SSO&#8221; link at the bottom of the pane. You may need to scroll down to show the button.<\/li>\n<li>Enter &#8220;<strong>bostonu<\/strong>&#8221; (or &#8220;<strong>bu-hipaa<\/strong>&#8221; if you use Zoom Meetings for HIPAA) in the company domain field. You will be redirected to a BU Login window.<\/li>\n<li>Configure your meeting options as desired. When finished, click &#8220;Add Zoom Meeting.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>The Zoom meeting will be automatically created and added to your invite. Your invite is now ready to send.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you need to update your meeting options, you can do so at any time from Zoom directly or by editing your meeting invite and clicking the blue &#8220;Settings&#8221; gear icon on the ribbon.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Installing the Zoom for Google Calendar Add-on<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to your <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.google.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google Calendar<\/a> using a web browser.<\/li>\n<li>Click the &#8220;Settings&#8221; gear icon at the upper right, then select &#8220;Get add-ons&#8221;<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2019\/06\/bu-om-gcal-get_add_ons.png\" alt=\"\" class=\" wp-image-122100 aligncenter\" width=\"231\" height=\"218\" \/><\/li>\n<li>In the &#8220;Search Calendar Add-ons&#8221; box, search for &#8220;Zoom&#8221; and select &#8220;Zoom for GSuite.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Click the &#8220;Install&#8221; button.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2021\/04\/zoom-google_suite-add-in-636x153.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-134697 aligncenter\" width=\"445\" height=\"107\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2021\/04\/zoom-google_suite-add-in-636x153.png 636w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2021\/04\/zoom-google_suite-add-in-768x185.png 768w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2021\/04\/zoom-google_suite-add-in.png 809w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 445px) 100vw, 445px\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Confirm which account you will be installing the Zoom add-on to. You will then be asked to approve the access required for the Zoom add-on. Click &#8220;Allow&#8221; to finish the installation.<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2021\/04\/zoom-gcal-addon-permissions.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-134698 aligncenter\" width=\"291\" height=\"381\" \/><\/li>\n<li>The Zoom for Google Calendar is now installed and ready for use the next time you create a meeting with conferencing enabled.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<h3>What about the Zoom Plugin for Microsoft Outlook?<\/h3>\n<p>Zoom has discontinued feature development for the Zoom for Outlook Plugin. Whenever possible, we recommend using the Zoom for Outlook Add-in.<\/p>\n<h4>Mac Users<\/h4>\n<p>Microsoft has announced the end of life for legacy Outlook plugins. Originally planned for May 2021, this deprecation has been delayed. For more information, please see <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/office\/outlook-for-mac-\u2013-planned-update-for-injection-based-plugins-dc6f9490-da7d-4d35-8793-835636b954d5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Microsoft&#8217;s support article<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you currently use:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Outlook for Mac 2019 or 365<\/li>\n<li>The Zoom Plugin for Microsoft Outlook<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Zoom and Microsoft recommend uninstalling the legacy plugin and migrating to the new add-in.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h5 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">How can I tell if I'm using the plugin?<\/h5><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open a new Finder window and navigate to your computer&#8217;s Applications folder.<\/li>\n<li>Look for a folder named &#8220;ZoomOutlookPlugin.&#8221;\n<ul>\n<li>The full path to this folder is: \/Applications\/ZoomOutlookPlugin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2021\/04\/zoomoutlookplugin-macos-folder.png\" alt=\"Screenshot of the ZoomOutlookPlugin folder\" class=\"size-full wp-image-134693 aligncenter\" width=\"184\" height=\"84\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In Outlook for Mac&#8217;s New Meeting window, the Zoom plugin creates a button to the right of the Start\/End Date and Time fields.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2021\/04\/zoomoutlookplugin-macos-addmeeting.jpg\" alt=\"Screenshot of the Zoom Plugin &quot;Add Zoom Meeting&quot; button\" class=\"size-full wp-image-134694 aligncenter\" width=\"524\" height=\"137\" \/><\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h5 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Is my version of Outlook for Mac affected?<\/h5><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>Plug-in support has been discontinued for Office for Mac 2019 and 365. You can confirm which version you use by performing the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the Outlook app on your Mac.<\/li>\n<li>Open the &#8220;Outlook&#8221; menu in your Apple menu bar, then click &#8220;About Outlook.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Look for the &#8220;License&#8221; line in the window that appears. Affected versions will read &#8220;Microsoft 365 Subscription&#8221; or &#8220;Volume License 2019.&#8221; The listed version number will also be greater than 16.16.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2021\/04\/ms365-mac-outlook-version.png\" alt=\"Screenshot of the About Outlook window on an affected version\" class=\" wp-image-134695 aligncenter\" width=\"218\" height=\"182\" \/><\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<h5>How do I uninstall the Zoom Plugin for Microsoft Outlook?<\/h5>\n<p>You can remove the Zoom Plugin using its included uninstaller. For additional assistance, please <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/contact\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">contact us<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Quit Outlook, if it is currently open.<\/li>\n<li>Open a new Finder window and navigate to your computer&#8217;s Applications folder.<\/li>\n<li>Locate and open the &#8220;ZoomOutlookPlugin&#8221; folder.<\/li>\n<li>Open the &#8220;Uninstall&#8221; application and enter an administrator&#8217;s username and password.
