Operators will continue to be available to all callers on request weekdays from 8\u00a0a.m. to 6 p.m.\u00a0 The service greets callers, asks for the name of a person or department, confirms selections, and transfers callers to the designated phone number. The service also allows callers to request published email addresses.<\/p>\n<p>Names in this system have been professionally recorded.\u00a0 If the system does not pronounce your name correctly, please contact Communication Services at 3-2097 or <a href=\"mailto:phone@bu.edu\">phone@bu.edu<\/a> as to assist in making the adjustment.<\/p>\n<p>If your telephone number is listed incorrectly, please update the information at <a href=\"https:\/\/ppo.buw.bu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">BUworks Central<\/a>. Select \u201cEmployee Self Service \u2013 Personal Information\u201d, \u201cOffice Address\u201d and correct your number.\u00a0 The directory service system is updated weekly.<\/p>\n<p>Tips on using the system:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Speak normally and at a regular pace.\u00a0 Exaggerating pronunciation may hinder voice recognition.<\/li>\n<li>When asking for a person, state the first name followed by the last name.<\/li>\n<li>There is no need to wait for the end of a system prompt. You can interrupt the speech system with another request at any time.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid background noise such as the radio.
