You can view Exception Reports by:<\/li>\n<li><strong>Users<\/strong> who have not completed assigned learning activities<\/li>\n<li><strong>Activities,<\/strong> including the progress that users have made towards completion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"highlight-yellow\"><strong>Note<\/strong>: An activity displays as incomplete if the expiration date has passed. Inactive activities are not shown.<\/div>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<br \/>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Access a Managed User's Profile<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>You can view your managed users&#8217; profiles from the Manager Dashboard by using the Actions split button to click <strong>Profile<\/strong>.<br style=\"clear: both;\" \/><a href=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/managers_guide3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/managers_guide3.png\" alt=\"managers_guide3\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-108953\" height=\"242\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>From here, you can see the user&#8217;s Timeline and any available actions for their listed activities.<\/p>\n<div class=\"highlight-yellow\"><strong>Important:\u00a0<\/strong>This is a view-only Timeline. It does not let you perform actions on behalf of the user. If you go to another user&#8217;s Profile and click on any available action (like <strong>Start<\/strong> or <strong>Register<\/strong>) in their Timeline, Learn tries to perform that action for you, the manager, not for the user whose profile you&#8217;re viewing.<\/div>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<br \/>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">View Exception Reports<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>You can view your learner&#8217;s activities from the Manager Dashboard. The Exception Report section displays the user&#8217;s completion progress in terms of percent complete. You can quickly look at the progress of your direct reports at any point of time. You can also register users for learning activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Access Exception Reports from the Manager Dashboard<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you want to view the Exception Report by User for Learning Activities, click the <strong>Users<\/strong> tab.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/managers_guide4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/managers_guide4.png\" alt=\"managers_guide4\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-108954\" height=\"333\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><br style=\"clear: both;\" \/>You can view Exception Reports for either Direct Reports or for All Viewable Users (Direct reports and other users).<\/p>\n<p>For example, if you want to view the Learning Activities Exception Report for All Viewable Users, either click <strong>Direct Reports + Others<\/strong> beneath Learning Activities or select &#8220;Learning Activities&#8221; and &#8220;All Viewable Users&#8221; from the <strong>Display<\/strong> option lists, as illustrated below.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/managers_guide5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/managers_guide5.png\" alt=\"managers_guide5\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-108955\" height=\"344\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><br style=\"clear: both;\" \/>If you wish to see a detailed view of the progress a particular user makes, click the corresponding <strong>Details<\/strong> link for that user. You can view a user&#8217;s progress details for each assigned activity. You can also expand activity structures to view the <strong>Completion status<\/strong> of each child activity.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the overviews provided on the Manager Dashboard, you can also access detailed exception reports for each user from this page.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To view exception reports in detail:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>From the Manager Dashboard, click either the <strong>Users<\/strong> or the <strong>Activities<\/strong> tab to view Exception Report by Users or by Activities.For each option, you may select <strong>Direct Reports<\/strong> or <strong>All Viewable Users<\/strong> as <strong>Display<\/strong> options.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"highlight-yellow\"><strong>Note<\/strong>: Note: Alternatively, select either of these from the <strong>Team Summary<\/strong> section: <strong>Learning Activities<\/strong> or <strong>Continuing Education<\/strong>. For each option, select <strong>Direct Reports<\/strong> or Direct Reports and Others.<\/div>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Access the detailed exception report.\n<ul>\n<li>If you&#8217;re on the <strong>Users<\/strong> tab, find the user you want to view and click the <strong>Incomplete<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<li>If you&#8217;re on the <strong>Activities<\/strong> tab, find the activity you want to view and click the <strong>Users<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Example is from the\u00a0<strong>Users<\/strong>\u00a0tab<strong>.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/managers_guide6.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/managers_guide6.png\" alt=\"managers_guide6\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-108957\" height=\"233\" width=\"500\" \/><br style=\"clear: both;\" \/><\/a>This takes you to either the <strong>Detailed Exception Report by User <\/strong>or <strong>Detailed Exception Report by Activity <\/strong>page, depending on whether you&#8217;re on the <strong>Users <\/strong>or <strong>Activities <\/strong>tab (respectively).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Detailed Exception Report by User <\/strong>displays data (such as <strong>Due date <\/strong>and <strong>Progress<\/strong>) on every activity assigned to the user you<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Detailed Exception Report by Activity <\/strong>displays data on any of your managed users that are assigned to the activity you<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following is an example of the <strong>Detailed Exception Report by User <\/strong>page:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/managers_guide7.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/managers_guide7.png\" alt=\"managers_guide7\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-108958\" height=\"209\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><br style=\"clear: both;\" \/>From either exception report, you can view progress for your managed user(s). Use the filters or drop- down menus to narrow your selection. Depending on the exception report you&#8217;re viewing, you have other options, too:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>From the <strong>User <\/strong>exception report, you can view a <strong>Summary <\/strong>of the user&#8217;s assignments or, if you have permission, <strong>add or edit their assignments<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>From the <strong>Activities <\/strong>exception report, if you have permission, you can <strong>Register Others<\/strong> to the activity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"highlight-yellow\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> Depending on system settings and user permissions, you may be able to click Refresh so you can immediately see any new assignments or changes in status or progress.<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul><\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<br \/>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Add or Edit Training Assignments<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nWith the proper permissions, you can manage training assignments.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Find the activity you would like to assign.<\/li>\n<li>Click the drop down arrow on the <strong>Select<\/strong> button and choose <strong>Manage Assignments<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"\/tech\/files\/2019\/04\/Screen-Shot-2019-04-01-at-3.52.51-PM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2019\/04\/Screen-Shot-2019-04-01-at-3.52.51-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"165\" height=\"146\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-120333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>3. Select <strong>Add<\/strong> or <strong>Edit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tech\/files\/2019\/04\/Screen-Shot-2019-04-01-at-4.00.12-PM.png\">\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2019\/04\/Screen-Shot-2019-04-01-at-4.00.12-PM-636x384.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"346\" height=\"209\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-120335\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2019\/04\/Screen-Shot-2019-04-01-at-4.00.12-PM-636x384.png 636w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2019\/04\/Screen-Shot-2019-04-01-at-4.00.12-PM.png 744w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 346px) 100vw, 346px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4. Choose your users and then enter or update the <strong>Assignment Options<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe display varies depending on if you are adding or editing an assignment, but the options are the same. In the following example, we added two new activities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/managers_guide10.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/managers_guide10.png\" alt=\"managers_guide10\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-108961\" height=\"280\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Required\/Recommended:<\/strong> Determine whether the user must complete the activity (required) or is only recommended to do so. Your learner sees this in the <strong>Status<\/strong> column of the <strong>Training Schedule<\/strong> page.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ignore Previous Completions:<\/strong> Select this checkbox if you want to assign the activity to the selected learners even if they&#8217;ve already completed the activity. (You can also click <a href=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/Calendar.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/Calendar.png\" alt=\"Calendar\" height=\"17\" width=\"25\" \/><\/a>\u00a0to set a &#8220;cutoff date.&#8221; If the learner completed the activity <strong>before<\/strong> this date, they won&#8217;t be reassigned to it. If you don&#8217;t set a cutoff date, then every applicable learner gets reassigned to the activity).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Start Date:<\/strong> Set the date the user(s) are assigned to the activity. You can choose <strong>Today<\/strong>, a set number of <strong>Days from today<\/strong>, or <strong>On<\/strong> a specified calendar date.If you choose to specify a Time Zone, Learn calculates the due date based on that time zone for all users, regardless of their preferred time zone. Reporting and notifications also adjust to reflect this.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Priority:<\/strong> Determine how important the activity is for your learner. They&#8217;ll see this on the activity&#8217;s summary page.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Due Date:<\/strong> Set the date the user(s) need to complete the activity. You can choose <strong>No due date, Within [number of] Days<\/strong> from the Assignment Date, or <strong>By<\/strong> a specified calendar date.If you choose to specify a <strong>Time Zone<\/strong>, Learn calculates the due date based on that time zone for all users, regardless of their preferred time zone. Reporting and notifications also adjust to reflect this.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assignment Notes:<\/strong> Anything you add here appears on the activity&#8217;s summary page.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Status:<\/strong> Set the assignment status, such as &#8220;Assigned&#8221; or &#8220;Waived.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<br \/>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Register Employees for Training<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>In addition to managing training assignments of employees, you can also manage registrations of your direct reports, viewable users, and direct reports or viewable users of the managers you are proxying for. You can register the users individually or use batch registration to register multiple users at a time.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, you can cancel the registrations individually or for multiple users.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Register Multiple Employees for Training<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Navigate to Enterprise Search <a href=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/Icon_Search_Edev_33x33.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/Icon_Search_Edev_33x33.png\" alt=\"Icon_Search_Edev_33x33\" height=\"25\" width=\"25\" \/><\/a>or the Library <a href=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/Icon_Library_Edev_41x31.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/Icon_Library_Edev_41x31.png\" alt=\"Icon_Library_Edev_41x31\" height=\"25\" width=\"33\" \/><\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"highlight-yellow\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> If one of your managed users is already assigned or registered for the activity, you can also register other users for that activity from the <strong>Detailed Exception Report by Activity<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Find the desired learning<\/li>\n<li>From the split-button, select Register Others.<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/managers_guide13.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/managers_guide13.png\" alt=\"managers_guide13\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-108964\" height=\"178\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"highlight-yellow\"><strong>Note:\u00a0<\/strong>Since Extended Enterprise activities and form-based approvals have unique workflows, they don\u2019t have a Register Others option. Each learner needs to buy or register for these activities on their own.<\/div>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>(If applicable) From the <strong>Select Activities<\/strong> section, choose activities.<br \/>\nComplex course structures like curricula may have multiple activities. If an activity is recommended instead of required, you do not have to register for it.<br \/>\nWhile performing batch registrations, you cannot:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a) Override pick rule<\/li>\n<li>b) Select the The system selects the allocation with the greatest open capacity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If every activity is required, then the checkboxes are grayed out and you cannot clear them.<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/managers_guide14-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/managers_guide14-1.png\" alt=\"managers_guide14\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-108966\" height=\"179\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>Click <strong>Continue<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe <strong>Select Users <\/strong>section becomes available.<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/managers_guide15.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2017\/07\/managers_guide15.png\" alt=\"managers_guide15\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-108967\" height=\"240\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>(Optional) Select <strong>Skip checking of registration issues <\/strong>to bypass registrationBy default, the system checks for issues when you register others. For example, you cannot add users to the Registration or Waiting list panel if they have a schedule conflict.Selecting this checkbox means the system overrides any issues and registers the user anyway.
