What is the Kaltura Media Mashup tool?<\/h3>

Kaltura is a media sharing platform, allowing users to share media in a secure environment. It is integrated into BU Learn, allowing faculty and students the opportunity to share video content privately or with others in the course.<\/p>\n

The Kaltura Media Mashup tool allows you to add\u00a0video content anywhere in your BU Learn course, such as an item, assignment, Discussion Board post, blog post, etc.<\/p>\n

Kaltura should be turned on by default in your BU Learn course. If you are not able to access the tool, please email askedtech@bu.edu<\/a> for assistance.<\/p>\n

Using the Kaltura Media Mashup tool in Blackboard<\/h3>

Using the Kaltura\u00a0Mashup Media Tool in Blackboard<\/h3>\n

Kaltura Media can be added to many areas of your Blackboard site.\u00a0 The text editor allows you to embed media in Items, Content Folder descriptions, Discussion posts, Assignment instructions and many more.\u00a0 The following example uses an Item<\/a> to add media to the Blackboard site.<\/p>\n

  1. When you are ready to add Kaltura Media, place the cursor within the content editor at the location you would like your Kaltura Media to be located, and click the\u00a0<\/span>Add Content<\/strong>\u00a0button.<\/span>

  2. Choose Kaltura Media<\/strong> from the list.\"Choose<\/a><\/li>\n
  3. This will take you to the My Media area. The MyMedia area is where all of your Kaltura videos are stored. From here, you may select a previously added video, upload a video, record from your webcam, or\u00a0capture your screen.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Selecting an Existing Video<\/h3>

      1. To select an existing video, locate the video in your MyMedia and click the Select<\/strong> button next to the video.

        Uploading a <\/span>Video<\/h3>
        <\/span><\/p>\n

        1. To upload a video, click on the Add New <\/strong>button.

        2. Select\u00a0 Media Upload<\/strong>.

        3. This will open a new window. Click Choose a File to Upload to locate a file on your computer.

        4. Once you have selected your video, click\u00a0Upload<\/strong>\u00a0to upload your video to Kaltura. Depending on the size of your file and your connection speed it may take several minutes to upload. Once your video has uploaded, you will\u00a0 be prompted to edit the title and (optionally) add tags and a description. Once you have finished, click Save<\/strong>.

        5. Click Back to Browse and Embed<\/strong> to return to your My Media.

        6. Click the Select<\/strong> button next to the video you just uploaded to embed it in your course.
