EOS (also known as EOS/ERD)  is a convenient online report manager that has been available  to the staff of Boston University for several years.   However, many people who could be taking advantage of it are not, due to a misconception that  EOS/ERD is complex, difficult to use, and time-consuming, and therefore is not a useful tool for effective business. EOS/ERD is exactly the opposite of  those things: it is simple, easy to learn, and can save you a great deal  of time and effort in acquiring information you need in order to make business decisions every day.

ACS is encouraging the use of EOS/ERD because of its strong potential to improve the ways we communicate information to the various departments at the University. The main advantage of EOS/ERD is that it provides immediate  access to available information, in a format customized to an individual’s specific needs. EOS/ERD also plays a vital role in reducing the total amount of paper produced by printed reports.

Using EOS/ERD requires no previous experience with a report manager, no advanced knowledge of computers, and no knowledge of programming whatsoever.  It is a simple system that lets you view report data without having to deal with a printed report.

The only thing you will need is a UIS account.  If you do not already have access to EOS/ERD, you can request it from your Data Security Administrator.

Accessing EOS/ERD involves four easy steps:

  1. Log in to UIS, the University Information System.
  2. Select Production Report Manager (WSF2/ERD) from the NC Access Activity Table.
  3. You will be presented with the Environment Selection Menu. Type E and press Enter to open EOS/ERD. (Special note: EOS/ERD is not case sensitive; i.e., ‘E’ is the same entry as ‘e.’)
  4. At the Primary Option Menu enter 1 to view your latest report directory.
