{"id":2010,"date":"2020-02-25T16:38:02","date_gmt":"2020-02-25T21:38:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/teaching-writing\/?page_id=2010"},"modified":"2025-10-03T11:12:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-03T15:12:08","slug":"guide-to-experiential-learning-and-the-writing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/teaching-writing\/resources-for-teaching-writing\/guides-tips\/guide-to-experiential-learning-and-the-writing\/","title":{"rendered":"Experiential Learning and the Writing Classroom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Experiential learning Writing Program initiatives like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/writing-program-curriculum\/boston-now\/\">Boston Now<\/a> (formerly Arts Now) and parts of broader university programs such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hub\/more-hub-experiences\/cocurricular-learning-experiences\/\">Hub\u2019s co-curriculars<\/a> encourage students to bring landscapes and communities from outside the classroom into their writing. Students\u2019 observations act as evidence that gives them opportunities to engage in types of analysis that textual sources alone do not make possible.
