Interns summer 2019

Internships

BU Sustainability hires student interns to join our team to help implement the University’s Climate Action Plan and build a strong culture of sustainability. Interns in our office work on a number of challenging and important projects and programs.

Summer 2020

We are accepting applicants on a rolling basis for paid opportunities.

Application Instructions

If you are a BU student with a passion for creating a more sustainable future, we encourage you to fill out our online application form or apply through the CAS On-Campus Internship Program. For internships with BU Sustainability, applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but we do tend to hire months in advance. Our preference is to hire students who will stay on for multiple semesters. Required attachments include: cover letter, resume, work sample, and transcript.

Read testimonials from a few of our former interns.

Off-Campus Opportunities

We are pleased to share information about internships with partner organizations.

Internships with ENGIE: Be a part of the clean energy transition with a summer internship at ENGIE, a sector leader in clean energy development. Paid summer internships for BU students are central element of the BU Wind project. ENGIE is particularly interested in students to work on wind and solar energy business development and project design, however internships are available in a variety of disciplines. Spring and summer internships are available in Houston, Chicago, and more for both undergraduate and graduate students. If you’re passionate about renewable energy and eager to gain valuable experience, this could be a great opportunity for you.

Resident Sustainability Leaders

Please note: The application window for 2020 is now closed. Thank you to everyone who expressed interest in this opportunity.

The Resident Sustainability Leaders (RSL) program is a year-long commitment to promote sustainability in student housing and provide support to residents on sustainability subjects ranging from recycling to energy, water, waste, and more. Through this program, the RSLs will help support BU’s Climate Action Plan. While they are principally a part of the BU Sustainability team, RSLs will also be a part of the Residence Life team and promote a positive and healthy environment where students can live, learn, and thrive. RSLs will work in parallel with Resident Assistants (RAs) and Residence Hall Council (RHC) to uphold the values of BU Residence Life.

The selected students will take part in training during the summer and will be compensated via free room and board.

Sustainability Ambassadors

They provide information about sustainability resources on campus, through a combination of information learned and their own personal experiences. In addition to understanding sustainability resources at the University, the Sustainability Ambassador position requires excellent verbal and social media communication, interpersonal, time-management, team building, and leadership skills.

The Sustainability Ambassador position is part of the Summer Leadership team through BU Orientation. Applications are typically due in January each year. To apply, visit BU Orientation.
