We read about bad and unethical behavior in business and industry, perpetrated by individuals. But why does this happen? In this course, we study precursors that make us susceptible to acting in ways that might be, or may even be perceived as unethical. We dive into our values and the values of our companies and use what we find to help inform us as to the “most correct” and consistent course of action in harmony with those values. Practicing with real life cases, we present frameworks that aid in the analysis and resolution of difficult decisions. Our goal is to make you more aware of, give you tools to analyze, and take actions to resolve dilemmas with confidence and equanimity.

Professors and Speakers:
Dr. Evan Apfelbaum, and David Epstein

For Whom?
All levels of individual contributors, managers and executives in the business world who are, or plan to be, leaders.

Prerequisites and qualifications:
All participants should have at least 5 years’ experience in a corporate role and fluent in English. You are encouraged and expected to speak and share your thoughts to contribute to a healthy exchange of ideas in both breakout groups and in the class as a whole while being respectful of others.

Detailed description:
The purpose of this workshop is to explore ethical issues throughout our global economy in a pragmatic, responsible, and decisive manner in order to prepare you to resolve these issues when faced with them. This workshop bridges the gaps between your company’s stated values (if identified), your personal values, and the challenges presented by corporate activity – be it local or global. Our work in this workshop will raise your awareness of the interrelated legal, moral, and ethical challenges inherent in business. Together, we will critically examine the ethical implications of business decisions and equip you with frameworks and strategies for managing your own and others’ behavior. We will formulate a process to evaluate complex leadership decisions and enhance your own ability to effectively navigate multi-faceted decision-making scenarios.

<h4 class="bu_collapsible" aria-expanded="false"tabindex="0" role="button">Learning Objectives

There are three categories of learning objectives: Awareness, Analysis and Action.
