Actual expenses incurred may vary for the following reasons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tuition:<\/strong> The above tuition estimate is for undergraduate courses. Tuition for graduate courses is typically higher and varies by BU school or college. Students enrolling in a graduate course can find the actual tuition listed in the course\u2019s description. Students who are taking 16 credits over 12 weeks will incur a higher tuition expense than what is listed above for 12 credits.<\/li>\n<li><strong>University fees:<\/strong> Some courses also carry lab or additional fees, which can be found in the course\u2019s description.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Housing and Dining:<\/strong> The rate listed above is for a multiple-occupancy, air-conditioned room in a traditional-style residence, with a dining plan of 10 meals per week. Alternative housing and dining arrangements will result in different charges.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Books, supplies, and incidentals:<\/strong> Actual expenses may vary depending on courses taken and lifestyle. The estimates above do not include airfare.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Financial information<\/h2>\n<p>Visiting international students who need an I-20 document from Boston University must provide proof of adequate funding in order to enroll at Boston University Summer Term. All financial documents submitted for evaluation will become the property of BU and will not be returned to you. It is recommended that you request multiple copies of the documentation listed below to submit to BU and to retain for your records. Please refer to the table above for the breakdown of fees and for the minimum funds required per summer session.<\/p>\n<h3>All declarations of financial support must:<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Reflect the minimum amount of support required, in US dollars if possible. Refer to the table above for the minimum amount required.<\/li>\n<li>Include a date of issue, which must be no more than one year prior to the intended date of enrollment.<\/li>\n<li>Be written in English.<\/li>\n<li>Reflect funds that are readily available for tuition payments (i.e., checking or savings accounts). Certain investment accounts such as stocks, salary documents, property holdings, etc., do not reflect available funds and will not be accepted.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Additional financial support requirements<\/h3>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">If you will fund yourself<\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">\n<p>Please submit official documentation (a bank statement or bank letter) stating the availability of the minimum estimated expenses indicated in the table above.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">If you will be funded by a family member or other individual<\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Please submit the <a href=\"\/summer\/files\/2021\/10\/Financial-Sponsorship-Certification-Partner.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Financial Sponsorship Certification<\/a>, which indicates 1) that your sponsor is willing and able to support you financially for the duration of your studies at Boston University, and 2) the name of your sponsor and your relationship to the sponsor.<\/li>\n<li>Please submit your sponsor&#8217;s official bank statement or bank letter stating the availability of the minimum estimated expenses indicated in the table above.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">If you will be funded by your home university, employer, or an organization or government<\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>Please submit a letter of sponsorship on official letterhead that includes your name, that the funding is valid specifically for Boston University, the period of time for which the support will be provided, and exactly\u00a0which expenses will be covered (e.g., academic fees, living expenses, health insurance, books and supplies, incidentals).<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">If you will be funded by a bank loan<\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>Please submit an official letter or certification from the lending institution which specifies your name and the period of time the support will be provided, that the funding is specifically for Boston University, and the total funding amount.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Estimated expenses for international students who are requesting a Boston University summer I-20 immigration document The estimates below are for visiting international students studying at BU during Summer Term 2026, whether enrolling in a single, six-week summer session (Summer 1 or Summer 2) or both summer sessions.
