Boston University offers high school students a range of academic resources, from computer labs and library access to specialized support through the Educational Resource Center, Writing Center, and Disability & Access Services. Students can utilize these services to enhance their learning experience and receive the support needed for academic success.<\/p>\n

Computers<\/h2>
\n

You have access to 40 computer work stations for communication, coursework, and research on the first three floors of Mugar Memorial Library, 771 Commonwealth Avenue. Printing and document scanning services are available. An IT Help Center provides technology support (software, hardware, and account services).<\/p>\n

If you bring your laptop to campus with you, wireless internet access is available across the entire campus.<\/p>\n

BU account<\/h2>
<\/p>\n

Before arriving on campus, you will receive an email with information about setting up your BU account.<\/p>\n

Be sure to set up your BU account when you receive this email, as this information will also be used to complete your Residence License Agreement for Housing.<\/p>\n

Research in Science & Engineering (RISE) students should set up their BU account to access all mandatory safety training, which must be completed before arriving on campus.<\/p>\n

Setting up a login account is required to access the wireless internet on campus.<\/p>\n

Library services<\/h2>
<\/p>\n

There are library branches across the BU campus, providing access to millions of scholarly resources, including print and electronic books and academic journals, streaming video and audio, rare materials, and databases; and offering study and collaboration spaces for all students.<\/p>\n

Mugar Memorial Library,<\/a> BU’s largest library, is located centrally on the Charles River Campus and supports research in the humanities and social sciences at Boston University. Other library branches specialize in engineering, science, management, music, and education.<\/p>\n

Librarians assist with papers and projects by providing research help in person, via chat, email, text, phone, and Zoom. Librarians also create guides with curated resources for your classes and hold workshops.<\/p>\n

Boston University Campus Store<\/h2>

The store offers one-stop shopping for your academic needs. Course materials, general reading books, notebooks, and other supplies are available at the Boston University Campus Store, located at 910 Commonwealth Avenue.<\/p>\n

Educational Resource Center (ERC)<\/h2>

For High School Honors students only<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The ERC<\/a> helps BU students develop the range and depth of academic skills required by the University’s rigorous programs.<\/p>\n

The free services and programs are designed to help students discover successful strategies not only for what to learn but how to learn. Services are run by a team of seasoned professionals, graduate students, and undergraduate student leaders.<\/p>\n

The ERC is located on the 5th floor of the Yawkey Center for Student Services at 100 Bay State Road.<\/p>\n

CAS Center for Writing<\/h2>

The CAS Center for Writing, at 100 Bay State Road on the third floor, offers one-on-one tutorials free of charge to all students enrolled in Writing Program courses (CAS WR 111, WR 112, WR 120, WR 151, WR 152, and WR 153). Students enrolled in other CAS courses may also use the Writing Center, but only on a drop-in basis by requesting an appointment here: https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/writingprogram\/the-writing-center\/walk-in-appointment\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Disability & Access Services<\/h2>
<\/p>\n

Boston University is committed to ensuring that students with disabilities have equal access to all opportunities the University has to offer. Disability & Access Services (DAS) works to provide services and support to ensure that students are able to access and participate in the opportunities available at BU.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In keeping with this objective, students are expected and encouraged to utilize the resources of DAS to the degree they determine necessary. Although a significant degree of independence is expected of students, Disability & Access Services is available to assist, should the need arise. Students with disabilities are encouraged to contact DAS to discuss support services and accommodations they may need relating to their academics, including assistive technology, classroom modifications, and exam accommodations. Housing accommodations can also be requested for students with a documented qualifying disability (or disabilities), including temporary injuries, that impact their residential environment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Students are encouraged to start the process as early as possible, and meet with DAS remotely to ensure that accommodations are set up in time for the start of their program. Accommodations are provided on a case-by-case basis depending on the individual\u2019s diagnosis and documented needs.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To begin the process, a student must have a BU ID, which is required to access and submit the application. The BU ID number is usually assigned within 10 days after a student has accepted their offer of admission to their Summer Term program.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
