Orientation and Activities
Once you are accepted into the Summer Study Internship Program, you will receive information that will answer many of your questions, from housing arrangements to campus life, and what to pack for your summer in Boston.
After you move in on Sunday, May 22, we invite you to a Welcome Dinner where you will receive a welcome packet with helpful information about the program and adjusting to BU and Boston. You will also have a chance to meet and get to know other students in the program. Classes begin on Monday, May 23.
On the morning of Friday, May 27, you will attend your first Internship Course meeting. After your class, an orientation will take place on campus. You will have an opportunity to get to know fellow participants and program administrators, and you will attend a workshop run by representatives from AIC, the internship placement agency that works with Boston University.
The program also includes excursions to places of historic and cultural interest in and around the Boston area. Past activities include a Boston Duck Tour, a Red Sox baseball game, a visit to the New England Aquarium, and a day trip to Salem. And of course, you'll have plenty of opportunity to travel on your own or with new friends from the program. Another highlight of the program is the Final Reception, which brings together students, their internship supervisors, and program staff to celebrate participants' accomplishments over the summer. For activity details, visit the Internship Program calendar.
