A Day in the Life of a Residential Research Intern
As a research intern at Boston University, you are fully immersed in laboratory activities and research from approximately 9 am to 5 pm each day of the week, although some labs have different schedules. In addition, you attend weekly workshops run by the RISE Coordinator to supplement your lab education, discuss your research, and plan for your final poster.
Meals are offered in the Marciano Commons dining room, which offers a large assortment of cuisines for all tastes, including vegetarian and vegan options. The dining staff can also help if you have food allergies or other dietary restrictions.
While at Boston University, you share dorm life and social activities with students from the High School Honors program. To help you get to know everyone, the BU campus, and Boston, we plan a variety of fun group events during the first week. After that, each weekend has a planned activity that everyone participates in along with some optional activities during the week. Your weeknights are free for reading scientific articles, joining impromptu activities, and spending time with friends until curfew. Take a look at our Schedule of Social Events to see the types of exciting activities we plan.
You will also have plenty of free time to enjoy the BU campus and all that Boston has to offer. You can purchase a short-term membership to Boston University’s Fitness & Recreation Center, study at one of BU’s 22 libraries, or relax on the BU "beach."
