Summer Preview Family & Friend Visits
If a parent or guardian is in town and would like to spend time with his or her son or daughter or if the student would like to visit relatives or family friends within city limits, it must be scheduled during the student's free time when there are no activities planned. The student must return to the dorm by curfew. In addition, the student’s parent or guardian must send written permission to the Summer Term High School Programs office at least 48 hours before the student is planning to leave campus. The parent or guardian can email a letter of permission to firstname.lastname@example.org. The letter should include details about the visit such as the time that the student will leave and return to campus and the cell phone number of the relative or family friend the student will be with. A student is authorized to leave once our office sends the student's parent or guardian a confirmation email.
If a student must miss a program activity because of a special circumstance (i.e., a family reunion), the student’s parent must send a written request to the Summer Term Office at least two weeks before the program begins. Requests should be sent via email to the Summer Term High School Programs office and should include a description of the special circumstances, the date and time the student will be away from the planned activity, and signatures from both the parent and student. Requests made once the program begins will not be considered. A decision will be made and a student is only authorized to leave once the Summer Term Office sends the student's parent or guardian a decision via email.
REMEMBER: Students are not allowed to miss any class time and there are no overnight absences for Summer Preview students. If the Summer Term Office authorizes a student to miss a planned activity, the student must return by curfew.
