In this role, Chad has the privilege of inviting curious, compassionate, justice-minded leaders and scholars to join the School of Theology’s vibrant community. Working with colleagues across the faculty and staff, Chad sees his role as a key part of STH’s efforts to discover, educate, and empower theological leaders whose voices and witness call forth more beautiful, more just, and more equitable worlds. As a graduate of STH, Chad knows first-hand the transformative and liberative potential of the School of Theology, and he seeks to cultivate a community of students who will expand and deepen that potential into their lives and communities.

After finishing his MTS degree at STH, Chad completed a PhD in Religions in American Culture as part of the Graduate Program in Religion at Boston University. Trained as an interdisciplinary historian, Chad’s academic research investigates the structural, ideological, and theological intersections of Christianity and capitalism in American culture.

Chad’s experiences working in higher education have run the gamut. Over the past decade, he’s served as a teacher, residence life professional, maintenance crew worker, researcher, and academic affairs administrator. Working in different roles at a large research university, a highly selective New England liberal arts college, and an access-focused small midwestern college has given Chad an appreciation for the variety of challenges and opportunities that inhere in university life.

Chad lives in Boston with his spouse, Kendra (who is also an STH alum and BU PhD candidate), and their three cats. When not in his office at 745 Comm Ave or traveling to represent STH at events around the country, Chad can be found plucking a guitar, backpacking New England’s trail networks, or biking around in search of Boston’s best breakfast spots.
