The lecture by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emmettprice.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dr. Emmett G. Price III<\/a>, entitled \u201cThe Sacred Sounds of Black Disinherited Creatives,\u201d sought to demonstrate how the Black\/African-American experience has been shaped by and expressed through spirituality and the creative, transcendent power of music. Following the lecture, guest respondents Assistant Professor of New Testament <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sth\/profile\/shively-t-j-smith\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shively T.J. Smith<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sth\/profile\/joshua-lawrence-lazard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rev. Joshua Lazard<\/a> (STH\u201925) insightfully remarked on the engaging talk along with Greg Groover, Jr., Assistant Chair of Ensemble at Berklee College of Music, who responded musically by playing his tenor saxophone.
