Associate Dean Berthrong long pursued his passions for philosophy and religion at the University of Chicago and United Church of Canada in Toronto before coming to Boston University in 1988. He was a father, grandfather, spouse, avid traveler, and a dedicated volunteer with Poodle Rescue New England and Poodle Rescue Connecticut.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span>Dr. John Berthrong was a deeply loved member of the STH community,\u201d says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sth\/profile\/g-sujin-pak\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dean G. Sujin Pak<\/a>. \u201cHe is remembered especially for his commitments to intercultural theology and interreligious studies, as well as the deep compassion with which he approached his scholarship, administrative work, and support of students.
