Here are some resources to help you navigate your next steps.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Take action in your local neighborhood:<\/strong> Local <a href=\"https:\/\/www.feedingamerica.org\/find-your-local-foodbank\">food<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.feedingamerica.org\/find-your-local-foodbank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> banks<\/a> especially need assistance during this time<\/li>\n<li><strong><b><span>Participate in the actions of ecumenical, denominational, and interfaith bodies<\/span><\/b>:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.masscouncilofchurches.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Massachusetts Council of Churches<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.diomass.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umcmission.org\/umcor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United Methodist Committee on Relief<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.umcmission.org\/umcor\">UMCOR<\/a>), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uua.org\/action\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Unitarian Universalist Association<\/a> all have resources for charitable works and social action<\/li>\n<li><strong>For those who are white:<\/strong> Find actions that will take the burden off of People of Color, <a href=\"https:\/\/nmaahc.si.edu\/learn\/talking-about-race\/topics\/being-antiracist\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">be proactive in anti-racism<\/a>, read up on dismantling white privilege <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sth\/dismantling-white-privilege-power-and-supremacy-reading-list\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.co.uk\/arts-and-lifestyle\/article\/black-lives-matter-reading-list\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here, <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/equality-includes-you\/what-white-people-can-do-for-racial-justice-f2d18b0e0234\">make a racial justice to-do list<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Write letters:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.house.gov\/representatives\/find-your-representative\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Write letters to your elected officials<\/a> to protect healthcare and emergency funding for working people, and\/or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lettersagainstisolation.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">adopt a senior self-isolating pen pal<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Prepare yourself:<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>Do you see things in your community in need of change but lack the skills to step in? Tool up by finding a lesson on YouTube, a podcast, a webinar, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sth\/oll\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a mini-course<\/a> to give you the education to lead the way<\/li>\n<li><strong>Take care of your own mental health:<\/strong> BU offers resources for graduate students through <a href=\"http:\/\/bu.edu\/shs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Student Health Services<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/bu.edu\/shs\/behavioral-medicine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Behavioral Medicine<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/bu.edu\/danielsen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Danielsen Institute<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/bu.edu\/card\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Center for Anxiety &amp; Related Disorders<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/bu.edu\/card\/\"> (CARD)<\/a>. Turn off social media and news coverage if you become overwhelmed<\/li>\n<li><span> <\/span><b><span>Have a conversation with someone you know<\/span><\/b><span><strong>:<\/strong> We often are around people different than ourselves without ever opening up to talk about that difference. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VgxZ42s3McM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Here are two STH Doctor of Ministry alums<\/a> talking about and modeling such a conversation\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Engage in meaningful spiritual practices:<\/strong> Dean Moore <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sth\/dean-moore-invitation-to-lament\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently wrote<\/a> \u201cLament is a pathway to share pain, to be fully human, to journey toward the heart of God, who holds more pain than all of us together can imagine and who will never let us go.\u201d Be present in your spiritual practice to grieve and provide clear guidance for your next steps.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We deeply love and care for you all.
