\nOur vibrant, creative, and progressive congregation seeks a Child Care Provider
\nto lead childcare for children during Sunday morning activities and during other
\nchurch activities, as needed. The Child Care Provider must have an
\nunderstanding and appreciation of children, as well as respect for the faith and
\ninclusive values of our church community.
\n!
\nSkills Needed
\nThe primary skill is a passion for nurturing young ones and the ability to
\ncreatively and compassionately connect to and work with a variety of children.
\nThe position requires a self-starter who is dependable, takes initiative, and is
\nresponsible. An ability to communicate well and work respectfully with
\nfamilies, other members of the staff, congregation, and building users is
\nessential.

\nTask Areas
\nProvide child care for children:
\n\u2022 Welcome children and their parents
\n\u2022 Provide a warm, safe, welcoming, and creative environment for children
\n\u2022 Serve as the lead caretaker in the nursery (although during the first few weeks
\nyou will work closely with an experienced volunteer who will help you get
\nacclimated). Another volunteer caretaker (church member) will likely also be
\nworking with you on most Sunday mornings.
\n\u2022 Support the children in their interactions with each other and in solving
\nproblems that arise
\n\u2022 Prepare a snack for the children
\n\u2022 Help with diapering and toileting, depending on wishes of family
\n\u2022 Work with parents to help children feel welcome
\n\u2022 Provide child care for other occasions such as church meetings, other
\nservices, on an as needed and as available basis
\n!
\nProvide a clean and safe environment for children
\n\u2022 Set up the child care area each week
\nApril 2017
\n\u2022 Clean child care area each week and take responsibility for cleanliness of toys
\n\u2022 Keep track of supplies and alert the Children and Youth Christian Education
\nCommittee of any needed supplies so they can replenish them.
\n\u2022 Set up and take down the Godly Play classroom\/s each week
\n\u2022 Report any problems to the liaison from the Children and Youth Christian
\nEducation committee or the Pastoral Associate immediately
\n\u2022 Follow the guidelines of the Child Safety policy
\n!
\nConditions of Job:
\n\u2022 Sunday mornings (usually from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm in September-June and
\n3 hours per Sunday in summer season, as negotiated).
\n\u2022 Occasional other worship services or events, as negotiated
\n!
\nReview and Reporting
\nOverall accountability is to the Associate Pastor and the chair of the Children
\nand Youth Christian Education Committee. A liaison will be named from the
\nPersonnel committee as an additional resource.
\n\u2022 Because this job depends on reliable presence every Sunday, in the event of
\nan absence, please contact supervisor(s) at least two week in advance so a
\nsubstitute can be arranged. No more than 5 absences is permissible per year.

\nQualifications:
\n\u2022 Associates Degree\/Certificate in Child Care or two or more years of
\nexperience in child care
\n\u2022 Certified in Pediatric First Aid\/CPR
\n\u2022 CORI clearable
\nCompensation:
\n\u2022 Salary: $15-20\/hour based on experience, paid on an hourly basis, not to
\nexceed the yearly budget approved by the Corporation
\n\u2022 Social Security
\n!
