Interim Summer Director of Youth Programs Position at South Church in Andover
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized and dependable person to fill our Interim Summer Director of Youth Programs role. The position will run from June 8th – July 31st, 40hrs/week along with 12 hours onboarding and preparation throughout the spring agreed upon with the Minister of Youth & Families. The Interim Summer Director of Youth Programs will receive $5,200-$5,400 over the course of the spring and summer as they fulfill hourly requirements of the 8 weeks of full-time summer programming along with the 12 spring hours. This position will report to the Associate Pastor of South Church.
Candidates must be over the age of 18, have experience working with children and youth and be able to work both independently and collaboratively.
The main responsibility of this role is preparing for and overseeing our Summer of Service (SOS) program. Summer of Service is a service based week long program for middle & high school students. The program runs 3 consecutive weeks in July. Each morning students and adult volunteers travel to local organizations to volunteer and then all students return to eat lunch and participate in afternoon activities at church led by upperclassmen counselors and summer interns.
Summer of Service Responsibilities Involve:
– Work with our SOS planning team in the months leading to July to create the schedule of organizations to volunteer with each morning of SOS
– Organize transportation schedule for each day of SOS
– Organize and oversee adult volunteer schedule & CORI requirements
– Organize and oversee Friday all day fun activity (typically going to the beach in Maine)
– Empower interns to run daily reflections after worksites
– Work with upperclassmen counselors & interns to plan and run fun, engaging afternoon activities
– Lead daily debriefs with counselors & interns
Other Responsibilities include:
– Supervise our summer internship program
– Collaborate with Minister of Youth & Families & key volunteers regarding programming logistics & schedule
– Assist with conducting summer intern interviews
– Supervise our summer internship program
– Plan creative community building one off events, ie: ice cream downtown meet up
– Develop meaningful relationships with children, youth, and families
– Keep track of summer budget
– Communicate clearly and effectively in person (public speaking & 1-on-1) and digital communications
– Lead team reflections with interns
