Doctor of Medicine Licensing Disclosure
Boston University offers a number of programs that lead to a professional license or certification. Provided below is licensure information regarding Boston University School of Medicine’s Doctor of Medicine program.
Boston University School of Medicine’s (BUSM) Doctor of Medicine program is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) and thereby meets the academic requirements for state medical licensure. While completing their BUSM medical degree, students will take Step 1 and both parts of Step 2 (CK and CS) of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). The third and final step of the USMLE is taken during postgraduate residency training. The USMLE is a three-step examination for medical licensure in the U.S. and assesses the doctor’s knowledge, clinical skills, and communication skills. Students must pass all three steps in order to be eligible for state licensure.
