G\u00f3mez"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jennifer M. G\u00f3mez, former Ford Fellow, is a Black feminist trauma researcher and critical race scholar who developed cultural betrayal trauma theory to examine the impact of oppression on outcomes of violence on individuals and communities who are marginalized. Her book \u201cThe Cultural Betrayal of Black Women &amp; Girls: A Black Feminist Approach to Healing from Sexual Abuse\u201d won the 2024 Frank W Putnam Outstanding Book Award from the International Society for the Study of Trauma &amp; Dissociation (ISSTD) and is relevant for diverse professional and student audiences: race scholars, trauma researchers, trauma clinicians, Black feminists\/womanists, changemakers\/advocates\/activists, Black women survivors, and anyone who wants to better understand and support Black women and girl survivors.<\/p>\n<p>G\u00f3mez joined BUSSW in 2022 as an assistant professor and faculty affiliate at the Center for Innovation in Social Work &amp; Health. She serves on the Boards of ISSTD, End Rape on Campus, and Center for Institutional Courage, as well as the Advisory Committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, &amp; Medicine (NASEM) Action Collaborative on Preventing Sexual Harassment in Higher Education. Additionally, she is a faculty affiliate at University of Michigan\u2019s RacismLab and research scientist at the Michigan Center for Urban African American Aging Research (MCUAAAR), funded by the National Institute on Aging (NIA).<\/p>\n<p>G\u00f3mez is co-editor of an upcoming special issue on intersectionality and dissociation in the Journal of Trauma &amp; Dissociation, as well as an upcoming special issue of ADVANCE: Individual &amp; Institutional Transformation for Social Justice regarding healing and partial or full divestment from academia. Additionally, she serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Trauma &amp; Dissociation, Psychological Science, and Journal of Clinical Child &amp; Adolescent Psychology.
