Jorge Delva is a nationally recognized expert on substance use disorders and ethnic health inequities who seeks to understand cultural variations in the etiology of substance use and mental health disorders in the US and globally. His goal is to use this knowledge to inform interventions and policies that will help ameliorate these serious health problems, particularly among the most disenfranchised communities.<\/p>\n
Delva is the author of more than 160 publications, including \u201cCultural Variations and Relevance to Etiology,\u201d a chapter in the Handbook of Adolescent Substance Abuse<\/em> (Oxford Press, 2019). In addition, his recent research has appeared in Health Education & Behavior, Revista M\u00e9dica de Chile<\/em>, and Social Psychiatry and Psychiatric Epidemiology<\/em>.<\/p>\n Delva serves as an external advisory board member for the University of Michigan Center for Clinical & Health Research, an NIH center for Clinical and Translational Science Awards, and serves as a member of the internal advisory board for the Boston University CTSI. He is a fellow of the Society for Social Work & Research and the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare, and a past editor-in-chief of Social Work<\/em>, the flagship journal of NASW. He served as dean of BUSSW from 2018-2023.<\/p>\n
