{"id":32693,"date":"2017-07-03T12:56:43","date_gmt":"2017-07-03T16:56:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/?post_type=profile&#038;p=32693"},"modified":"2026-06-24T13:07:43","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T17:07:43","slug":"bronwyn-keefe","status":"publish","type":"profile","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ssw\/profile\/bronwyn-keefe\/","title":{"rendered":"Bronwyn Keefe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bronwyn Keefe is Boston University School of Social Work\u2019s (BUSSW) Assistant Dean of Workforce and Professional Development, Research Associate Professor, and Director of <a href=\"https:\/\/caderonline.bu.edu\/cader\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BUSSW\u2019s Center for Aging and Disability Education and Research (CADER)<\/a>. She is dedicated to expanding access to high-quality educational programming for individuals working in the aging and disability networks. Dr. Keefe is committed to strengthening the workforce that provides home and community-based support and services to older adults and people with disabilities through developing innovative, competency-based, practice-informed online training.<\/p>\n<p>Through <a href=\"https:\/\/caderonline.bu.edu\/cader\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CADER<\/a>, Dr. Keefe has trained more than 50,000 practitioners and provided online training in the area of aging to more than 450 community-based agencies and state organizations nationwide. As one of the first two social work grantees, she was awarded a four-year Geriatric Academic Career Award from the Health Resources and Services Administration to continue to build upon her commitment to training an interprofessional gerontology workforce. Keefe was invited to lead focus groups for the American Geriatrics Society\u2019s (AGS) Intersection of Structural Racism and Ageism in Healthcare Initiative Goals and Strategies Committee and present these findings at their Plenary Session. Dr. Keefe was selected as an Emerging Leader in Aging Scholar through the Tideswell Program at UCSF\/AGS\/ADGAP.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Keefe has been funded on many behavioral health projects, focusing on building the capacity of providers and communities in understanding the importance of mental health, substance use, and developing age-friendly initiatives to improve the lives of older adults. Her research interest areas are focused on workforce development, curriculum development, and program evaluation to assess the impact of training on the aging and disability workforce located in home and community-based settings. Dr. Keefe\u2019s research has been published in the Journal of Behavioral Health Services &amp; Research, the Journal of Aging and Social Policy, and the Journal of Gerontological Social Work.
