Boston University School of Social Work <\/span>(BUSSW) <\/span>is pleased to announce that Donna McLaughlin has been promoted to full clinical professor<\/span>, a testament to her extensive, high-quality, innovative work and <\/span>numerous<\/span> contributions to the <\/span>School<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

McLaughlin is known for her <\/span>expertise<\/span> in social work practice with groups and individuals, behavioral health and trauma, and supervising, training, and consulting health and human service organizations. <\/span>She is the co-editor of <\/span><\/span>Revitalizing Our Social Group Work Heritage: A Bridge to the Future<\/span><\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She<\/span> teaches foundation and advanced level courses on working with individuals and groups<\/span> and <\/span>designed the professional education course, Group Work with Older Adults. Her interests include supervising and mentoring students and new workers, and community training in group work, trauma, living with chronic illness, and issues facing the LGBTQ+ community. She is a<\/span>lso<\/span> <\/span>a clinician<\/span>\/consultant in private practice.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A<\/span> long-time member of the International Association for Social Work with Groups (IASWG)<\/span>, McLaughlin<\/span> serves as the treasurer on the International Board of Directors. She provides training to the American Parkinson Disease Association, where she is a member of the advisory board and an ongoing collaborator. She received the<\/span> 2019<\/span> B<\/span>U <\/span>School of Social Work Alumni Award for Outstanding Contributions to the School<\/span> <\/span>and<\/span> the 2015 Group Worker of the Year Award presented by the Massachusetts Chapter<\/span> of <\/span>IASWG. Her online course won a 2014 Platinum Award for Best Practices in Distance Learning Programming from the United States Distance Learning Association.<\/span> <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
