{"id":59823,"date":"2022-08-25T10:07:55","date_gmt":"2022-08-25T14:07:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ssw\/?p=59823"},"modified":"2022-08-25T10:10:19","modified_gmt":"2022-08-25T14:10:19","slug":"faculty-bring-climate-justice-experts-bussw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ssw\/faculty-bring-climate-justice-experts-bussw\/","title":{"rendered":"Faculty Bring Climate Justice Experts to BUSSW"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ssw\/about\/strategic-plan\/\">strategic goal<\/a> to prioritize climate action and its commitment to support representation from underrepresented communities, the Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) Equity &amp; Inclusion Committee is launching an emerging scholars program on the role of social work in climate justice.<\/p>\n<p>The program, which will take place during the 2022\u20132023 academic year, connects BU community members with three early career scholars whose work focuses on climate justice.<\/p>\n<p>Programming will include presentations for MSW students, networking opportunities for doctoral students and faculty, a consultation and feedback workshop, and a roundtable discussion open to the larger BU community.<\/p>\n<p>BU Diversity &amp; Inclusion funded the project as part of its Emerging Scholars Program which aims to increase the inclusion of people who are underrepresented in academia and create a more expansive community at BU.<\/p>\n<p>BUSSW\u2019s emerging scholars program on social work and climate justice is co-sponsored by the Center for Climate and Health at BU&#8217;s School of Public Health, and is co-chaired by BUSSW faculty members Daniel Jacobson L\u00f3pez, Dawn Belkin Martinez, and Ellen DeVoe.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ssw\/category\/climate-environmental-justice\/\">Read More Climate Justice News<\/a><\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of its strategic goal to prioritize climate action and its commitment to support representation from underrepresented communities, the Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) Equity &amp; Inclusion Committee is launching an emerging scholars program on the role of social work in climate justice.
