Three BUSSW faculty members—Professors Scott Miyake Geron, Judith Gonyea, and Rob Hudson<\/strong>—were presenters at the the Annual Meeting of The Gerontological Society of America, which was held in San Francisco from November 16 to 20. <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Professor Geron, who is Director of the School’s Institute for Geriatric Social Work (IGSW), presented two papers: “Agency-based Online Training Program Improves Practice Competencies and Promotes Workforce Development” (with co-authors Caitlin Ryan and Bronwyn Keefe<\/strong>, both from IGSW) and “Developing Leadership in Mental Health and Aging:  Raising Competencies Within Systems of Care.” He also was a participant in a symposium on Geratric Leadership Competency. <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Professor Gonyea presented a paper, “Adult Daughters and Aging Mothers:  The Experience of Guilt and Caregiver Burden” (with co-authors Ruth Paris, BUSSW Assistant Professor, and Lisa Zerden, PhD student) and was discussant for two symposia,” Having to Work After 55: Prospects for the Poor and Near Poor” and “The Development of a Caregiver Assessment Tool: Translating Research into Practice.”<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And, Professor Hudson presented a paper, “Reframing the Vital Center for an Aging Society: View from Academe” and was a discussant for the symposium, “A New Deal and a Great Society for Older Americans: Have Promises Been Kept?”<\/p>\n
