They are struggling to offer guidance from afar to parents and children with histories of trauma and abuse, while simultaneously supporting colleagues and staff and maintaining their own sense of calm. This session provides an opportunity to come together in a reflective forum to share concerns, challenges, and learn about new approaches that reflect BUSSW\u2019s longstanding commitment to social, racial and economic justice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ssw\/profile\/ruth-paris-lcsw-licsw\/\"><strong>Ruth Paris, Ph.D., LICSW<\/strong><\/a><span>\u00a0is an associate professor of Clinical Practice at Boston University School of Social Work where she serves as the chair of the Clinical Practice department. At BUSSW, Paris teaches courses on clinical practice with families, trauma in early childhood and clinical research methods.\u00a0 Her research focuses on attachment-based interventions for vulnerable families with young children. Dr. Paris is a graduate of Smith College (MSW) and the University of California, Berkeley (PhD).<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><a href=\"http:\/\/bostonu.imodules.com\/s\/1759\/2-bu\/19\/1col.aspx?sid=1759&amp;gid=2&amp;pgid=8908&amp;content_id=10328\" class=\"button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">REGISTER<\/a><\/h5>\n<hr \/>\n<h5>SESSION 2: The Impact of COVID 19 in the Latinx Community<\/h5>\n<p><strong>May 14<\/strong> | 3-4:30 PM<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instructor:<\/strong> Luz Lopez<\/p>\n<p title=\"\">This interactive webinar will facilitate a conversation that addresses the socio-economic and mental health impact of COVID 19 in the Latinx community. The program will focus on the impact of shelter in place measures, unemployment, closing of schools, and isolation in the emotional health of Latinx individuals and their families. Participants will also share coping strategies, cultural traditions, resilience, and bilingual, bi-cultural resources available in English and Spanish.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ssw\/profile\/luz-marilis-lopez-lcsw\/\">Luz M L\u00f3pez<\/a>, PhD, MSW, MPH is a clinical professor at Boston University School of Social Work. This interactive session will explore cognitive behavioral approaches and resources with consideration to contextual factors and social work values.<\/span><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ssw\/profile\/jordana-muroff-licsw\/\" title=\"\"><strong><br \/>\nDr. Jordana Muroff, PhD, LICSW<\/strong><\/a><span>\u00a0is an associate professor at the Boston University School of Social Work. Her research and practice interests are in CBT for children and adults with anxiety disorders with a specific interest in OCD and hoarding, and the use of technology in assessment and interventions.
