Practice and scholarly focus

Nanci is a seasoned clinician, manager, and trainer in the field of social work for over 15+ years with specialties in adolescent mental health, family systems, community-based psychotherapy, clinical supervision, program management, community liaison work, program analysis and development, psychological first aid/post-traumatic stress management, and suicide prevention. In her current role with the Riverside Trauma Center, she is a trauma responder for acute psychological trauma and disaster events ranging from broad-scale experiences (i.e., the Boston marathon bombing); to localized events such as suicide deaths in schools and communities throughout Massachusetts. Nanci is trained in Post-Traumatic Stress Management, Behavioral Health Disaster Response, and Psychological First Aid best practice models. She is also a certified instructor for QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Gatekeeper Course for Suicide Prevention, Youth Mental Health First Aid, and the Signs of Suicide Prevention program. Nanci is past-treasurer of the Massachusetts chapter of the National Association of Social Workers and President Emerita of the BUSSW Alumni Association.
