4/11: Prof. Mendez Shares Expertise on Trauma & Migration at BU School of Theology Event

Prof. Alicia Mendez from BU School of Social Work will speak at a panel focused on how religious and faith communities can offer support and relevant tools to immigrant communities who face continuing trauma due to social policies that detain, deport, and separate families at the border. By engaging with trauma researchers, faith groups can learn more about the nuances involved in treating traumatized families and help them build the skills they need to cope. The event, “Trauma and Migration Panel: What Should The Church Know?” is hosted by the BU School of Theology and features other experts in the field.

Prof. Mendez is a research assistant professor and a social worker specializing in intergenerational trauma and family welfare policies. She works to improve organizational support for families at risk.
