Prof. Gómez Co-Edits Journal of Trauma & Dissociation’s Special Issue on Intersectional Inequalities

Assistant Professor Jennifer M. Gómez, PhD, of Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) is co-editor of the upcoming special issue of the Journal of Trauma & Dissociation, “Understanding, Preventing, & Healing Dissociation in the Context of Intersectional Inequalities.”

The issue will explore the connection between intersectional inequalities and dissociation in multiply marginalized people and communities. Manuscript submissions are accepted until October 15, 2024 (details here).

A Black feminist trauma researcher and critical race scholar whose work has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals and media outlets, Gómez is an editorial board member of the Journal of Trauma & Dissociation and recently won the 2024 Frank W. Putnam Outstanding Book Award from the International Society for the Study of Trauma & Dissociation for her book, “The Cultural Betrayal of Black Women & Girls.”

She is an active member and leader of multiple national and international organizations addressing sexual abuse, trauma, and intersectional oppression. She is on the boards of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, End Rape on Campus and the Center for Institutional Courage, and serves on the Advisory Committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, & Medicine (NASEM) Action Collaborative on Preventing Sexual Harassment in Higher Education.
