BU Center for Career Development: BUSSW MSW Student Vanessa Galeana Featured in Spotlight
Vanessa Galeana, a first-year Master of Social Work student at BUSSW specializing in Children, Youth, and Families, was recently featured in a student spotlight by the Boston University Center for Career Development.
The story highlights Galeana’s path from education and youth development into social work, her focus on the juvenile justice system, and her upcoming practicum with the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services.
From the spotlight:
Vanessa’s interest in social work is rooted in her exposure to the challenges faced by youth within institutional systems. In particular, she has developed a strong interest in the juvenile justice system, sparked by the systemic challenges faced by incarcerated youth and the potential for impactful reform. To further this interest, Vanessa will complete her second-year practicum with the Department of Youth Services (DYS), where she will work directly with youth in both detention and treatment settings.
