5/9: Older Adult Behavioral Health Conference Co-Organized by Prof. Keefe
A leading expert in older adult behavioral health and steering committee member of the MA Older Adult Behavioral Health Network, Bronwyn Keefe of BU School of Social Work (BUSSW) is co-organizer of an upcoming conference addressing social and mental health in older adults. The conference, “Healing in Community: Promoting Social Connection and Mental Wellbeing among Diverse Older Adults,” is hosted by the MA Older Adult Behavioral Health Network where Keefe serves as a steering committee member.
The conference will provide participants with the opportunity to learn different cultural frameworks for spiritual and emotional wellbeing, connect with other older adult mental health providers, and learn strategies for promoting connection and finding meaning and purpose in the aging process. Attendees will also learn about new initiatives at the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs and Department of Mental Health.
BU School of Social Work (BUSSW) is a co-sponsor of the conference which features keynote addresses from Reverend Jacqueline Dyer, PhD, and Dr. Sunita Puri, MD.

Bronwyn Keefe, PhD, is a research assistant professor and assistant dean of workforce and professional development at BUSSW. She also serves as director of the School’s Center for Aging & Disability Education & Research and its Network for Professional Education. A leading expert in aging and gerontology, she is passionate about educating practitioners and making an impact on their knowledge, skills and values in key practice areas with older adults, including behavioral health and disability programs and policies.
