{"id":23,"date":"2015-07-22T14:51:55","date_gmt":"2015-07-22T18:51:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sps\/?page_id=23"},"modified":"2025-08-26T19:34:39","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T23:34:39","slug":"employment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sps\/about\/employment\/","title":{"rendered":"Employment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Working for us means being an integral part of hundreds of student events! \u00a0No two events are ever the same and you&#8217;ll get to truly experience BU&#8217;s diversity by providing these events with production services in theatrical lighting, sound, and multimedia.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All student positions are part-time. \u00a0Your work schedule is made around your academic schedule so you will not be asked to work during your classes.<\/li>\n<li>We employ\u00a030-35 students and expect them to be professional, friendly, and helpful to our clients and guests.<\/li>\n<li>Having a Work-Study grant is desired, but not required for employment.<\/li>\n<li>Students have the responsibility to effectively communicate all conflicts in a timely manner with their supervisor.<\/li>\n<li>The weekly schedule (for Monday through Sunday) is typically posted by the Friday prior. Hours vary depending on the events &amp; activities that SPS is supporting.<\/li>\n<li>You are expected to be on time for all shifts and dressed appropriately for work.<\/li>\n<li>Good communication skills and ability to work as a team with your peers are required of all student staff.<\/li>\n<li>Training will be provided for all staff.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Production Assistant Job Description<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Supervisor:<\/strong> Nick Vale, Production Manager<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities include working as a team to provide lighting, sound, and\/or media support to student events that happen in a variety of venues across campus.\u00a0 These events include cultural shows, dance performances, concerts, large scale meetings\/lectures, and theatrical productions.\u00a0 Duties include transporting, setting up, and operation of production equipment.\u00a0 Some heavy lifting required and must not be afraid of heights or small spaces.\u00a0 This is a very physical job.\u00a0 Schedule varies based on events and includes evenings and weekends.
