Successful candidates display a solid mix of quantitative, verbal and reasoning skills.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Do I need work experience for the MPH program?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">No. Our classrooms are comprised of students with a mix of varied experiences \u2013 most have at least 1-2 years of work experience, while others have more extensive work experience. We recommend two years of work experience for the Online MPH program, as that program is designed for working professionals. <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Is a GRE score required for application?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">No, a GRE score is not required for application to BU School of Public Health and will not be considered if submitted.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">What is the minimum GPA you accept?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">SPH has no stated minimum GPA score for prospective students, though the most competitive applicants typically report a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Do I need to send transcripts to SPH as well as SOPHAS?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">No. SOPHAS sends all verified coursework to SPH with your application and keeps copies of your official transcripts on file. You do not need to send your transcripts directly to SPH unless you are currently in a degree program and are accepted into a program here. In this case, you must send a final transcript from your current program once your degree has been conferred.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">How many letters of recommendation do I need in order to apply? Who should write my letters of recommendation?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">SPH requires three (3) letters of recommendation for all programs, except the Online MPH, which requires two (2). Letters should not be written by family, friends, or acquaintances. Depending on an applicant\u2019s background, letters of recommendation may be a mix of professional and academic references. Below are some guidelines, but personal discretion may be used:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you have been in school within the past two years, you may have two (2) academic references and one (1) professional reference.<\/li>\n<li>If you have been in school within the past four years, you may have one (1) academic reference and two (2) professional references.<\/li>\n<li>If you have not been in school within the past four years, all three (3) may be professional references.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">What should I cover in my Statement of Purpose? How long should it be?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">The Statement of Purpose is intended as an opportunity for applicants to provide a narrative of their education, experiences, and career objectives. Each program will have a slightly different emphasis for the statement. Please check application requirements for details about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sph\/admissions\/applying\/\">your program of interest<\/a>.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">How does SPH\u2019s rolling admissions process work?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">Our rolling admissions process for the MPH program enables Admissions to receive and review prospective students\u2019 applications on an ongoing basis throughout each admissions cycle. Please see our priority and final deadlines for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sph\/admissions\/applying\/\">your program of interest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For PhD and DrPH programs, decisions are not issued on a rolling basis. Our hope is to notify all applicants by mid-March.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Please tell me about SPH\u2019s priority deadline. If I miss the priority deadline, how might this affect my odds of acceptance?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">Admissions recommends that all SPH candidates for the MPH and MS programs submit applications by the priority deadline in order to receive equal consideration for the available seats within each program as well as available scholarship funds, if applicable. Stated deadlines for PhD and DrPH programs are hard deadlines. If the review committee recommends you for a different program, the Admissions Office will contact you directly. <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Can I choose more than one functional certificate as an MPH student?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">Some students choose two functional certificates, which is possible, but requires careful planning to ensure that you meet requirements for both. Note that the healthcare management certificate, with its additional CAHME accreditation, requires more coursework (28 credits versus 16 credits for all other functional certificates). If one of your certificates is healthcare management, you may need additional credits to complete a second functional certificate.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">What is the minimum GPA you accept?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">Over a 3.0 is considered competitive.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Which programs offer spring admission?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">The On-campus MPH and Online MPH have a spring application process for a January start date.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Are my chances of being accepted different for spring?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">No. If you are a strong applicant, we are happy to accept you for fall or spring.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Will SPH begin reviewing my application if it is considered incomplete?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">No. Admissions will not forward your application for review unless all required items have been submitted.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Should I wait for letters of recommendation to arrive before submitting to SOPHAS?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">No. As soon as your application is complete with items that you have control over (Statement of Purpose, r\u00e9sum\u00e9\/CV, all required sections of the online application, transcripts), you should submit your application. This will allow SOPHAS to begin verifying and preparing your application. Letters of recommendation will be added as they are received.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Where should I send my final transcripts if admitted to SPH?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">Official final transcripts showing dates of degree conferral can be mailed to the Admissions Office at BU School of Public Health, 715 Albany Street, Talbot Building, T2C, Boston, MA 02118. BU\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/isso\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">International Students &amp; Scholars Office (ISSO)<\/a> will review your profile in order to determine which immigration document is appropriate.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">How can I obtain the immigration documents that I need in order to apply for a student visa?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">Upon depositing, international students must submit the International Student Data Form (ISDF), which is supplied in the SPH acceptance package. Once Admissions receives your completed ISDF and supporting documents, SPH forwards your paperwork to ISSO for processing and approval. For more information, please refer to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/isso\">ISSO website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>International Online MPH students are not eligible for a student visa. <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">When can I expect to receive my I-20 or DS-2019 from ISSO?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">If accepted by ISSO, international students will receive their I-20 or DS-2019 within 15 business days following receipt of ISDF and supporting financial documents. It is recommended that international students submit their ISDF and supporting financial documents immediately following their deposit. Paperwork will be processed in the order in which it is received.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">If English was my language of instruction for my previous degree, am I still required to submit a TOEFL score?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">No. If English is indicated as the language of instruction on your WES ICAP evaluation, then this requirement will be automatically waived. If your WES ICAP evaluation indicates any language other than English, you will be required to submit the TOEFL\/IELTS Waiver Form\u00a0 with required proof from your institution. If you do include your TOEFL scores as part of your application, they will be reviewed regardless of your eligibility for a waiver.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h2 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Am I allowed to work on campus?<\/h2><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">International students may work up to 20 hours per week on campus.
