Our sessions are designed to meet the needs of students at all levels of skill and confidence. You can make an appointment with a peer coach at any stage in your writing process, and you can make up to two appointments per assignment. Peer coaches are available both in person and online. We are happy to work with individual authors and teams.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h6 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Common Requests<\/h6><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a list of some of the most common requests students have when they work with peer coach:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Brainstorm ideas for topics or angles for approaching your topic;<\/li>\n<li>Receive feedback on outlines and drafts at any stage where you will find feedback most useful;<\/li>\n<li>Develop and refine your writing objective\/thesis statement;<\/li>\n<li>Improve clarity;<\/li>\n<li>Cut unnecessary words;<\/li>\n<li>Reduce overly technical language and abbreviations<\/li>\n<li>Review assignment instructions and rubrics to make sure you are on the right track;<\/li>\n<li>Talk through writers block and other challenges;<\/li>\n<li>Ask questions about citing sources;<\/li>\n<li>Create and stick to a team writing and accountability plan;<\/li>\n<li>And more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<h3>Appointments<\/h3>\n<p>The Peer Writing Coach Program offers writing and presentation appointments to all SPH students. Students may make up to two appointments per assignment. Writing sessions are 60 minutes long and presentation sessions are 30 minutes long.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re offering two types of online appointments this fall:<\/p>\n<h4>A\u00a0synchronous appointment\u00a0is a coaching session in real time.<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>You and a peer coach will use video, online texting, and a shared screen to discuss your writing at your scheduled appointment time.<\/li>\n<li>You can ask the tutor questions in the moment and receive feedback directly.<\/li>\n<li>All appointments are listed in Eastern Daylight Time. Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you must cancel your session, please do so at least 3 hours prior to the start time.<\/li>\n<li>These appointments last 60 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Students can make a total of two appointments a day, with a limit of four per week.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>An asynchronous appointment\u00a0is\u00a0not\u00a0a live online coaching session.<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>We\u2019re using the term \u201cappointment\u201d loosely here.<\/li>\n<li>You won\u2019t be meeting to discuss your work with a writing coach online.
