Our goal, in Graduate Student Life, is to provide services and support to ensure that students are able to access and participate in the opportunities available at Boston University School of Public Health. In keeping with this objective, students are encouraged to apply for accommodations and utilize the resources of Disability & Access Services<\/a> to the degree they determine necessary. Although a significant degree of independence is expected of students, Graduate Student Life is available to assist in the process of accessing reasonable accommodations including resources and services for students with disabilities, chronic medical conditions, a temporary disability, or pregnancy complications resulting in barriers to fully accessing University courses, programs and activities.\u00a0Accommodations are determined through Disability and Access Services for individuals with documented qualifying disabilities in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.<\/p>\n

Graduate Student Life recommends following these steps to ensure successful access to accommodations.\u00a0 These steps are described in full at Disability and Access Services<\/a>.<\/p>\n \n

  1. Complete the Student Intake Form<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Schedule an intake evaluation with Disability and Access Services<\/a> by calling 617-353-3658. Do this after submitting your paperwork\u2014don\u2019t wait for them to reach out to you!<\/li>\n
  3. Upload your disability documentation to the Accommodate portal<\/a>. In preparation for the intake evaluation meeting be sure to gather all necessary documentation describing your disability\/accommodation needs from providers, past institutions, etc., and ask any providers to fill out any necessary paperwork found here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n \n

    Once Accommodations are Approved<\/strong><\/p>\n

    When your accommodations are approved, a staff member from Graduate Student Life will reach out to you and your professors sharing the accommodations that are recommended for your use.\u00a0 It is encouraged that you reach out to your professors to discuss your accommodations together, to make a plan that is most fruitful for you and for them.<\/p>\n

    If your accommodation includes missing a lot of class due to a health condition, please remind your professor before\/ after a missed class and let them know your plan for making up the work.<\/p>\n

    You do not need to reapply for accommodations each semester- Graduate Student Life has the list of your accommodations and will send them out each semester while you\u2019re a student here.\u00a0 If at any point you need new accommodations, reach out to Disability and Access team to talk it through: access@bu.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    Exam Accommodation Information<\/strong><\/p>\n

    If your accommodation includes extra test-taking time, please reach out to your professors 2 weeks before an exam to remind them of your accommodations. Students, complete the form below to submit your request for a proctored exam. Instructors, please complete the instructor form below to provide the exam information to GSL.<\/p>\n
