They suggest steering the conversation away from the disability and focusing more on the observed behaviors and\/or specific examples of their academic performance.<\/li>\n<li>Keep in mind that students are not obligated to disclose their disability, request accommodations or even use approved accommodations.<\/li>\n<li>Disability and Access Services can assist students by recommending testing, providing accommodations with appropriate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/disability\/accommodations\/all-disabilities\/\">documentation<\/a>, or refer them to other BU resources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have any questions or concerns please <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/disability\/who-we-are\/contact-us\/\">contact Disability and Access Service<\/a> at 617-353-3658 or <a href=\"mailto:access@bu.edu\">access@bu.edu<\/a>, or Graduate Student Life Director Mary Murphy-Phillips at 617-358-1750 or <a href=\"mailto:mcmurph@bu.edu\">mcmurph@bu.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h6 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">What should I do if a student notifies me that they think they may have a disability?<\/h6><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>Faculty are often the first people to come in contact with a student with a disability. Students may not know the process, have never had to self-advocate, or are nervous about how much personal information to share.
