Biography<\/h6>
Director of Operations, Healthcare Services, HEALTH PLAN OF SAN MATEO (HPSM)Marwan has worked in the payer system in strategy and operations, using a population health management approach to reducing waste and improving quality of the healthcare delivery system. He currently serves as the Director of Operations at a health plan in the Bay Area where he focuses on helping the poorest and most vulnerable residents gain access to high quality healthcare while addressing social determinants of health. He holds an MBA and MPH in health policy from Boston University.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>Kathryn “Katie” Mezwa (SPH’18)
Biography<\/h6>
Kathryn (\u201cKatie\u201d) Mezwa is a Boston University School of Public Health graduate, class of 2018. Katie concentrated in Community Assessment, Program Design, Implementation, and Evaluation, and Global Health. While earning her masters degree, Katie worked at Boston Medical Center as project manager of three OBGYN research projects. Now, in San Francisco, Katie is a fellow in the Blue Shield of California Shield Emerging Leaders program. As a newcomer to the city, she hopes to help early career professionals and recent graduates transition to work and life in the Bay Area.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>Madeline Pearse (SPH’17)\u00a0
Biography<\/h6>
\u00a0Madeline Pearse is a Health Research Analyst at Mathematica in Oakland, California. At SPH, her public health education focused in health policy & management with an interest in transforming health care delivery systems. Additionally, she worked in clinical research at Boston Children’s Hospital. Madeline’s older siblings, who live in the Bay Area, encouraged her to move to the West Coast following graduation from SPH and she found that her policy and research background made her an ideal fit for Mathematica. In her analyst work, she supports the development, testing, and maintenance of clinical quality measures and analyzes state Medicaid data.
\nWhile a graduate student, she interned for the health finance chairman at the Massachusetts House of Representatives, participated in meaningful healthcare management projects within the Boston community, and worked as a research assistant at an academic medical center. Prior to Mathematica, she worked as a project coordinator in clinical research where she managed a multisite study quantifying pediatric cardiology nurses workload in the ICU through a measurement tool.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>Janis Scanlon (SPH’12)\u00a0
Biography<\/h6>
Janis Scanlon Rice is Boston University School of Public Health, class of 2012. At BUSPH, Janis concentrated in Maternal and Child Health and Social Behavioral Health. With over 12 years of experience in clinical research, Janis is currently a Clinical Operations Manager at the Immune Tolerance Network (you may know the organization from the LEAP peanut tolerance trial!). She focuses on solid organ transplant trials that aim to wean patients off of their immunosuppression medications. For fun, Janis likes going to ballet class, eating her way through the Bay Area, and connecting with fellow alumni.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH) Alumni Mentor Program (AMP) provides career and professional development to BUSPH graduate students and SPH alumni. The program matches participating students with alumni mentors who share similar academic and career interests. The purpose of the program is to foster students\u2019 professional growth as current and future public health practitioners with a special emphasis on addressing the health needs of underserved and vulnerable populations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
